The Lodge is located in the tourist town of Karatu on the Western south Slopes of Ngorongoro Crater at the 1,400 feet above sea level; the Lodge sits in a garden of flowers and vegetables. The property offers spectacular sweeping views of the hills and close distant to the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire National Park.
The warm and cozy rooms overlook the reserve and tropical gardens, the large en-suite bathrooms include WC, shower, and washbasins as well as luxurious toiletries. The bedrooms open up to a terrace that is furnished with a table and chairs.
A stay at Embalakai Authentic Camps offers the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and smells of the magical Serengeti from the comfort of your luxury tented accommodation. In the evening, you can take a moment to relax on the deck or by the campfire under the Serengeti dark velvet night sky whilst looking up at millions of stars overhead in the pure unfiltered wilderness.
There is no greater feeling than ‘letting go’ and embracing the beauty of present moment life, living on natures clock where time is determined by the sunrise and sunset, allowing the day’s events in between to unfold in their own magical.
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be welcomed by the Kiliholidays transfer driver and taken to Panone Hotel-Sakina within Arusha. The rest of the day will be at leisure and you can either relax at the hotel. In the evening you will attend a briefing in preparation of the upcoming safari.
In the morning you will start your safari with a drive to the Tarangire National Park. The park, roughly the size of Luxemburg, covers an area of approximately 2,600 km². The landscape of savannah, seasonal swamps and giant baobab trees is home to Masai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeest, eland, fringe-eared oryx, the weird-looking long-necked gerenuk and over 550 species of birds. But it is the elephants, Tarangire is famous for and the park, where herds of up to 300 animals roam, is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see them and to get close to these giant creatures.
After an extensive game drive, you will arrive at Farm of Dreams lodge outside the park, where you will spend the night in a lodge.
After the breakfast plates have been cleared, you will continue toward the fertile highland where wheat, coffee and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be able to see the breath-taking Ngorongoro Crater before travelling onwards to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by midday.
The Serengeti National Park is the largest park in Tanzania with a diversity of landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah and mountains. Here the biggest wildebeest and zebra migration takes place and depending on season you will have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals on their search for nourishment.
You will overnight at Embalakai tented camp the night in the Seronera area in central Serengeti.
Dawn is a good time to watch wildlife and so you will be up early to join an early morning game drive. You will return to the camp for breakfast before heading out for another game drive in the park. Here in the Seronera region you will often see wildebeests and zebras in close proximity of lions and other predators such as leopards and cheetahs.
After a picnic lunch you will continue your journey towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Once you have reached the crater rim you will enjoy fantastic views of this 600 m deep collapsed volcano. You will stay and overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.
Early in the morning you will head down the forested slopes into the crater on a steep and narrow path. The crater floor is covered in open grassland with the occasional acacia tree and two small wooded areas. Teaming with wildlife, you will be able to see many animals in a short period of time and might even be able to tick the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – off your list. Other animals present in the crater area include wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, hippos and more than 500 species of birds.
You will spend the entire morning exploring the park and after a picnic lunch in the crater, you will return to Arusha where you will arrive by early evening and overnight at your hotel of choice or connect the flight to Zanzibar from Kilimanjaro airport at 19:40 pm.
You will have a FREE orphanage visit to provide supplies you have to the kids.
Mack was born and raised in Arusha, Northern Tanzania in a lovely Ilmaasai tribe family. He is the eighth child of ten and has spent the majority of his career as a Tour Guide covering East Africa. Mack studied Information Communication Technology and has also specialized in the field of Procurement and Supply Management. However, he feels at home in the African wilderness! Travel and Tourism Management is where his heart lies. As he gained more experience, Mack realized that he wanted to create safaris of his own using the skills he acquired during his travels.
Northern Tanzania is home to some of East Africa's most famous parks. The main parks in the north are the,
We offer vegan, vegetarian, regular and gluten-free food as well. For other dietary requirements, simply tell us in advance. We are happy to work out something and happy to keep your tummy happy.
You can expect anything from omelets to quiches with a variety of salads. Continental breakfast is also typically served with toast, sausage, pastries, charcuterie, cold meat, coffee, and tea. Cereals, fruits, bread, eggs, and cheese are also very common.
More often than not, lunches are served picnic style in the middle of your game drive. Sometimes, guides/drivers also take you back to the lodge or camp for a hearty meal before going on an afternoon or sundowner game drive. Food is usually composed of sandwiches and fruits.
Before setting off to your late afternoon game drive, afternoon snacks - or bitings, as it is usually called in East Africa - will be provided. Freshly roasted peanuts or cashews, cakes, sandwiches, biscuits, quiches, and tarts are the usual.
On your final game drive of the day, you will be enjoying alcoholic beverages (think wine and beer) with snacks such as nuts, dried fruits, and savories as you watch the sunset across the wildlife-ridden fields.
Prepared at the lodge or camp, dinner is usually served in three courses: soup, mains, and pudding. Butternut soup, vegetable curry, and fruit pudding is a very common combo, but of course, there will be a variety during your stay ranging from meat, fish and pasta dishes served with assorted vegetables and sauces.
For the drinks, it could be anything from water to coffee and tea to wine and beer. Filtered water is typically available but in the event that it’s not, the camp or lodge will either tell you in advance or provide water for you to drink each day.
As a general rule of the thumb, the level of sophistication and the number of options available depending on the lodge’s distance from suppliers. It has been said that “The more remote the lodge, the simpler the menu, and the closer it is to the city center or towns, the more sophisticated the menu.” This can be really be expected but this doesn’t mean you can underestimate the culinary powers of the safari lodge chefs. As a matter of fact, you can be surprised. People with special diets don’t have to worry as well.
On day 4, you can visit Oldupai Gorge for an extra USD 60 per person. It is a fascinating archaeological site you could visit if you are interested in history and the Masai tribe.
From your camp to the balloon (USD 580 per person.)
Some things are worth getting up early for and this is certainly one of them. Rising before the birds and heading out in the silence of the pre-dawn towards the launch-site is all part of the anticipation. Perhaps one of the Serengeti’s more elusive inhabitants will be caught in the headlights on this nocturnal game drive.
There is truly nothing to compare with breakfast served under the sweeping canopy of acacia in the middle of the Serengeti plains. Tropical fruit, bread baked this morning, and eggs cooked in the bush, all made more delicious by the location and served on linen, bone china, and Sheffield cutlery in an 'Out of Africa' style. Shoulder to shoulder with your fellow passengers, this is a time to soak in the exceptional flight you’ve just been a part of and absorb the moment.

Kilimanjaro International Airport
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Transfer available for additional US$300 per person
Tanzania has three international airports, but Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is the most common entry point. Please book your flight to arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport. Kiliholidays will pick you up from each one of the two airports. The pick-up is included in the price.
Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) is situated 46km/29mi east of Arusha, the gateway of Tanzania’s most popular Northern safari circuit. Tanzania’s main airport is Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) located 13km/8mi southwest of Dar es Salaam. The latter is the entry point for visitors to the southern parks.
Moving on from Arusha or Dar es Salaam, you can fly or drive between reserves. Some domestic flights out of Arusha will leave from Kilimanjaro International Airport, but most flights to reserves leave from the much smaller Arusha Airport (ARK) located 8km/5mi west of town. However you choose to travel, in most cases, your local tour operator will pick you up from the airport and arrange all further transportation as part of your safari package.
Domestic and charter flights between parks are usually booked by Kiliholidays as part of the tour package. Domestic flights can be booked with several domestic carriers.
