Octagon Lodge is a small and private lodge located twenty minutes from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Gate in Karatu, Tanzania. Program
The Serengeti great wildebeest migration takes place to the North, around Moru Kopjes and West Seronera. In June, they move to the southern side of Grumeti River and the Western Corridor. In July, they'll be moving northward, through Grumeti Reserve and Ikongoro.
Day 1: Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you will be picked up from Arusha. You will drive on a tarmac road for 130 kilometers with a lunch box to Lake Manyara National Park for afternoon game drives. Start the game drive through an underground water forest. You will have a picnic lunch, dinner, and overnight at Octagon Luxury Lodge.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park
You will have an early morning breakfast in Manyara, then drive to the great Serengeti National Park with lunch and game drives en-route. In the afternoon you will have a game drive in the park, then dinner and overnight will be at Serengeti Mawe Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you start your day with a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, marveling at the stunning scenery, ever changing light, and always entertaining wildlife, all explained to you by your expert guide, with the option of a picnic or hot lunch at 12:30 p.m. After lunch, you set off again for afternoon game drives that will take until sunset, at 6:30 p.m., when you will head back to the camp for dinner and overnight at Serengeti Mawe Luxury Camp.
Day 4: Southern Serengeti and Northern Ngorongoro
Early in the morning, before breakfast, you will leave the camp with a lunch box for a full game drive to explore the great migration in southern Serengeti and northern Ngorongoro which is in the Ndutu Area. In the afternoon, you will stop for a bush lunch, and after lunch you will continue the evening game drive until sunset when you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Gnu Tented Lodge.
Day 5: Southern Serengeti and Northern Ngorongoro
Early in the morning, before breakfast, you will leave the camp with a lunch box for a full game drive to explore the great migration in southern Serengeti and northern Ngorongoro which is in the Ndutu Area. In the afternoon, you will stop for a bush lunch, and after lunch you will continue the evening game drive until sunset when you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Gnu Tented Lodge.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, depart from Lake Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater rim. Wake up for early morning game drives in Ndutu, then head back to the lodge for lunch. You will then check out and drive with lunch and game viewing en-route to Ngorongoro Crater rim for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and then descend into the crater floor for game drives. All the big five (rhino, lion, buffalo, and elephant) live in this wonderful caldera. Other animals that live here are zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena, and more. Birds include flamingos on the Soda Lake, geese, storks, vultures, and more. Your lunch will be served at the picnic site in the crater, at Ngoitoktok Swamp, a hippo pool. After lunch, drive back to Arusha.
