Day 1: Arrival
Arrival to The Charity Hotel.
Day 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park
In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and you will travel to the Tarangire National Park. This park with its huge baobab trees, the perennial Tarangire River, and seasonal swamps is home to the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania. Animals gather at the river and you should be able to see elephants, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, dik-diks, waterbucks, warthogs, and reedbucks all year round.
Furthermore, the park is also home to buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests which are always closely followed by a range of predators such as lions. Leopards are seen every once in a while but cheetahs are rarely spotted. From the open roof of the vehicle, you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the animals. After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park in the late afternoon and drive to the campsite.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
A nice early start then a drive pass the Rift Valley (Africa’s graven fault) up to the cooler regions of the crater uplands. The Ngorongoro Crater is almost 600m deep and in this massive caldera you will find an amazing variety of animals. Alongside the “big five” (elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards and rhinoceros) you will find virtually all of the animals that can be found on the entire east African savanna.
At a chosen picnic spot you will have lunch and the rest of the afternoon will be devoted to more wildlife watching. Later on you will leave the crater and go to Sun Bright Campsite for dinner and overnight.
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Day 4: Lake Manyara National Park
This day marks the the final day. After breakfast you will continue on your “Northern Circuits” tour to the next National Park in Tanzania. Lake Manyara Park is one of the smaller parks in Tanzania. It covers an area from the north western edge and a large proportion of the lake itself. The lake is the seasonal home to thousands of flamingo, pelicans and more than one hundred other types of birds that also make this lake their home. On the partly forested edges you will find and get a chance to watch the proud elephants with their impressive tusks search for food and go about their daily business. You will also get to see giraffes, buffalo, gazelle, antelope, baboons, and last but not least the famous tree climbing lions.
After a jammed packed wildlife tour it will be time to leave the national park and return to Arusha.
