Accommodations on safari are usually a combination of lodges and permanent or mobile tented camps. "In the bush", and miles from civilization, these luxury camps and lodges are all unique and in amazing settings. Lodge rooms have complete bathroom amenities as do most permanent tented camps. Mobile camps can have either private en-suite facilities or shared bathrooms and shower tents. Unless you are in a major city, there will be no TV or phones with outside lines. Electric lights, running on generators, are generally lit for a few hours in the early morning and from dark until 10 or 11 p.m.

Program

Explore on foot with Masai Guides

This holiday is a walking safari trek with local Masai on a traditional hiking safari in the remote Loita Hills, one of Kenya's last tracts of genuine wilderness. Rarely visited by outsiders, a Loita Hills trek offers an exclusive and exciting addition to your stay at Leleshwa Safari Camp.

Your adventure begins with a privately guided hike through the homeland of the Maasai Purko clan, guided by tribesmen whose homeland includes the Loita Hills. Spend 3-6 days discovering the 200km2 Sacred Forest filled with cedar, podo, and strangler figs, waterfalls, and spectacular birdlife. The area is inaccessible to vehicles, and the wilderness is relatively untouched. Some 2,000 colobus monkeys roam the trees, and you're also likely to see or find evidence of elephant, buffalo, baboon, bushbuck, bush pig, leopard, and hyena.

Your private guided hiking safari features a route custom-tailored to your physical abilities and interests. It's an adventure to thrill even the most seasoned safari-goer!
