Budget Big Five Safari in Kenya

Goshen Mara Camp is located within the Masai Mara Eco-system and on the banks of Ololaimutia River which is a watering point for most of wild animals, especially elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes.

The camp is located 20 kilometers from Keekrok Air Strip, 15 kilometers from Sekenani Gate, 2 kilometers from Ololaimutia Gate, and 230 kilometers from Nairobi. The camp is suitable for those who what to have the real experience in the jungle. The set up is within protected indigenous trees, hence providing a cool and fresh breathtaking feeling of the wilderness.

The camp currently has six tents which can accommodate 15 persons. All tents are clean and comfortable and one tent can accommodate up to three people. All tents also have a verandah to relax after a long day. This gives a great and spectacular view of Ololaimutia Hills.

As well as the well appointed en-suite accommodation, the camp has a small dining area, where you will be served delicious meals, prepared by the resident chef, and a bar where you can buy cold drinks when you return from a long, hot day in the reserve. The tents are equipped with the following:

  • Hand washing basins
  • Hot and cold shower
  • Mosquito nets
  • A socket for charging cameras and phones
  • Lighting that is generator powered


Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Pick up at your Nairobi hotel / residence by 8 a.m. then depart for the famous Masai Mara National Park, driving through the picturesque Great Rift Valley with a brief stopover at the Rift Valley viewing point to take pictures then proceed to arrive at the famous Masai Mara in time for lunch at the lodge. After lunch depart, for afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Breakfast, then morning game drive where you might be able to see all the Big Five. Return back to the lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, depart to the Mara River where you will be able to witness the wildebeest migration which is the seventh wonder of the world. Here, millions of wildebeests try to cross the river as the crocodiles and other predators attack them while hiding under the water. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve to Nairobi

Breakfast at the lodge then depart for Nairobi with en-route game viewing as you leave the lodge. Drop off at your Nairobi hotel by 4 p.m.


Masai Mara National Reserve is an area of preserved Savannah wilderness in southwestern Kenya. Its animals include lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras and hippos. Wildebeest traverse its plains during their annual migration. The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers. The area nearby is dotted with villages (enkangs) of Maasai people

The Masai Mara is approximately 280 kilometers west from Nairobi City. There are two ways to get to the Masai Mara. You can choose to drive or to fly to the Mara. Driving will take you about five to six hours while flying takes about 40 to 45 minutes.
