Detailed itinerary
Day 1
Journey out to Nairobi National Park and discover all major animal species. On this day, the team will pick you up from your respective pick-up point and start your journey to Nairobi National Park. The park's predominant environment is an open grass plain with scattered Acacia bushes.
The western uplands of the park have highland dry forest with stands of Olea africana, Croton dichogamus, Brachylaena hutchinsii, and Calodendrum. The lower slopes of these areas are grassland. Themeda, cypress, Digitaria, and Cynodon species are found in these grassland areas. There are also scattered yellow-barked Acacia xanthophloea.
There is a riverine forest along the permanent river in the south of the park. There are areas of broken bush and deep rocky valleys and gorges within the park. The species in the valleys are predominantly Acacia and Euphorbia candelabrum.
The park has a large and diverse wildlife population. Species found in the park include lion, leopard, African buffalo, black rhinoceros, giraffe, hippopotamus, spotted hyena, blue wildebeest, plains zebra, cheetah, Thomson's gazelle, Grant's gazelle, common eland, impala, hartebeest, waterbuck, common warthog, olive baboon, black-backed jackal, common ostrich, and Nile crocodile.
You will also visit The David Sheldrick Elephant Conservation Park which is located within the Nairobi National Park. This is an amazing and fun tour in Nairobi that also gives one truly heart-touching memories.
The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Nursery bordering Nairobi National Park offers a safe haven to orphaned baby elephants rescued from parks and reserves in Kenya. The nursery cares for the young elephants, including hand-rearing them until they are old enough to be gradually introduced back to the wild in Tsavo East National Park among other places.
Day 2
On this day, the team will pick you up from your respective hotel / designated pick-up point and proceed with the Nairobi tour. You will start the day with a Landcruiser drive to Giraffe Centre. The Giraffe Centre is located in Lang'ata, approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the centre of Nairobi, Kenya.
It was established in order to protect the vulnerable giraffe that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. The main attraction for both school children and visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The Giraffe Center is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.
From The Giraffe Centre, you will proceed to The Karen Blixen Museum. Karen Blixen Museum is a colonial-era house, where Baroness Karen Blixen lived with her husband. The Oscar-winning movie “Out of Africa” was based on Karen Blixen's life in Kenya, based on her autobiographical book.
The house was built in 1912 and bought by the couple in 1917, and it became the farmhouse for their 4500-acre farm, of which 600 acres was used for coffee farming. A visit to this museum provides an opportunity to step back in time and gain an insight into this remarkable woman's life. Views of the Ngong Hills can be admired from the beautifully landscaped gardens of the museum.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Kazuri Bead Factory. KAZURI began in 1975 as a tiny workshop experimenting in making handmade beads. KAZURI started with two Kenyan women and soon discovered that there were many other women in the villages around Nairobi, most of whom were single mothers, who were in great need of regular employment.
Driven by the desire to provide such opportunities, Kazuri has grown and today they have a large workforce skilled in the making of handmade jewellery.
Day 3
This is the end of the holiday. You will return home with beautiful memories.
