African dream horse safari

Horse trails are offered to the public and welcome beginner and advanced riders so that everyone gets to experience the beauty of the bush from horse back. There is a one hour and two hour trail available. There is no big five in the safari, except for the leopard which is seldom seen. You will encounter various plains game such as the impala, warthog, zebra, giraffe, kudu, waterbuck, and so much more.

Blyde Canyon Adventure Center

Enjoy the splendor of the third largest canyon in the world, unquestionably being the largest green canyon due to its lush subtropical foliage. An interpretation tour by a guide will take you to the rare, living Kadishi Tufa Waterfall, which, at 200 meters in height, is the second tallest tufa waterfall on earth and the Three Rondawels.

An abundance of wildlife will keep you distracted while learning more about the natural history of the Blyde Canyon. In the case of the Kadishi Tufa Fall, the formation that has been produced strikingly resembles a face which is crying profusely and is thus sometimes known as "the weeping face of nature."

Bush walk

Experience the bush from a different angle. Take the time to focus on the smaller but interesting aspects of the bush that you do not get to experience on the game viewer! The walk is more or less two hours long.

Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center

You can avail a tour at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center which focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable, or endangered animals. Cheetah conservation is one of their core disciplines.

Microlight flights

Experience a safari from the air and see all the beauty that nature holds from sky! A 20 to 30-minute flight will take you over big five areas with the opportunity to see plenty of game. A one-hour flight will give you the option to do either the Blyde River Canyon or Olifants River.

Situated in the shadow of the majestic Mariepskop, the unique conservancy is home to many wild animals. Wherever possible, rehabilitated birds and animals are returned to the wild and those that are not so fortunate due to the nature and extent of their injuries are used to educate the many people who visit each year.

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Moholoholo contributes to the conservation of endangered species and the rehabilitation of injured and poisoned wildlife. Moholoholo also facilitates a number of successful breeding programs. Tours run Monday through to Saturday with two tours daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No booking is needed, you can just arrive at the tour time.

Nyani cultural village

The cultural journey starts in the boma theater where guests experience the original show “Limpopo Pathways.” The hour long theater show is designed as an entertainment and educational tool telling the story of the origins, journeys, and lifestyles of the tribes that settled in the Limpopo.

Presented in a natural setting, under the thatch roof open-air boma theater, the show is an exciting venture following the pathways of the tribes from the past to the present. Following the show after approximately 60 minutes, the group is led down to the traditional Shangaan village.

Olifants River cruise

Meander along the waters of the magnificent Olifants River on the Kambaku house boat watching crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, elephants, water bucks, and a wide variety of other game on the lush, green banks of the river.

Olifants River safaris will take you on an unforgettable two-hour journey on one of the largest rivers in the Kruger National Park as you wine and dine while gazing at the abundant wildlife, birds, indigenous trees, bush, and grass associated with the African bushveld.

Quad biking

Quad biking is an adventure starting with a bike and ending with seeing the beauty of Africa and its beautiful wildlife all from up close! It is an absolute must when staying at Roamers Rest if you have a thrill for adventure! You can go biking for two or two-and-a-half-hours.

Spa treatments

You can avail massages, hand and footprint rituals, and detox treatments for an extra cost.

Sun Catchers hot-air ballooning

Sun Catchers has been offering one-hour-long flights over the scenic, lowveld section of the Blyde River, west of Hoedspruit since 2003. The terrain is a mixture of farmland and private nature reserves at the foot of the Drakensberg escarpment. Although it is not a big five safari flight, the location has proven to be the most popular in the Hoedspruit area and in the lowveld for that matter.

The escarpment forms an amphitheater at the location, providing safe shelter from the prevailing winds. Having experimented with different areas in the lowveld, they have come to the conclusion that the area offers the very best in terms of safety, accessibility, and scenic splendor. More than 10,000 passengers have enjoyed scenic flights there.
