During this safari, you will stay at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel. Situated in Musanze former Ruhengeri province, Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel is a 5-star accommodation which is set just along the road heading to Kinigi - Volcanoes National Park head office.
The lodge offers relaxing high-end accommodation with beautiful views of the rolling hills of the land of a thousand hills. The accommodation comprises of 13 bedrooms (double / twin), a VIP cottage. Each room is air-conditioned and features a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, and a kettle.
Other facilities include a restaurant, a pool, a traditional sauna, and a steam sauna are awaiting your visit and the staff is looking forward to making your stay a pleasant one.
After completion of customs and immigration formalities, you will meet Kawira Safaris Ltd’s representative / your safari driver guide at the airport. You will have your safari briefing and then drive to Musanze in the northwest part of Rwanda, the main base town for gorilla tracking.
After your morning wake-up call and breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking formalities and briefing by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides on the gorillas’ etiquette. You will be assigned to a specific group of gorillas. Your trek will vary in length depending on which gorilla group you have been assigned to.
After locating your assigned gorilla group, you will spend 1 hour in their company before retracing your steps back down the volcano slopes. You will have lunch at the lodge. Your afternoon will be spent at leisure with an optional visit to the little known but compellingly beautiful twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo.
After an early breakfast, you will again drive to the park headquarters where you will have briefings and formalities for the golden monkeys trekking. The golden monkeys are rare, beautiful, and distinctive bamboo-associated primates of the blue monkey family and endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley.
These adorable apes will keep you marveling at the wonder of how they carry out their daily activities and the way they are closely related to the human beings, also they are tremendously fun to watch as they squabble and play in fruiting trees. After golden monkeys trekking, you will have lunch and then enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali with onward transfer to the airport for your evening outbound flight.
This safari will take place in Volcanoes National Park. This corner or northwestern Rwanda is a breath-taking unforgettable place where culture, adventure, and conservation intersect. The "Parc National de Volcans" (or PNV as it's known by locals) lies along the Virunga Mountains, with 8 ancient volcanoes, which are shared by Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Just a short 2-hour drive from Rwanda's capital of Kigali, the park is a central location for exploring some distinctly Rwandan experiences. While a visit to the mountain gorillas is often at the top of the visitor, the dramatic landscape also offers thrilling hiking and visits to the fascinating golden monkeys.
Volcanoes National Park is also one of Rwanda's conservation epicenters, where many non-profit organizations base their operations. Visitors can pay homage to the legendary scientist and gorilla advocate, Dian Fossey, with a hike to her tomb or a visit to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund that continues her legacy of research and advocacy to this day.
Near the park, the bustling and vibrant markets of Musanze are a place to immerse yourself into everyday Rwandan culture. Go deep into the earth with Musanze's caves, it's one of the area's newest attractions.
You will be provided with breakfast on the first day, breakfast and dinner on the second day, and breakfast on the final day of the safari. Kawira Safaris Ltd and the travel partners want to properly cater you whilst on tour, it is important to inform Kawira Safaris Ltd at the point of booking if there should be any special dietary requirement.
