Pumba Safari Cottages

Pumba Safari Cottages is located in Kyambura overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park as they are along the rim of the western rift valley in Uganda. With a view over a rich animal kingdom, you might spot elephants coming to enjoy the waterhole in view from the verandas of the cottages. Gorilla Mist Camp

Gorilla Mist Camp is a camp located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on the southwestern wing of Ruhija trekking area where the gorilla families Oruzogo, Bitukura, and Kyaguliro are found. Rwakobo Rock

Your home for your last night, Rwakobo Rock is a peaceful and secluded retreat where you can breathe in the essence of wild Uganda. The eight comfortable and spacious cottages are dotted around the hill, all very private and offering great sunset views. The main dining area overlooks an expanse of rock that adjoins the park. Set in the pristine Ankole ranchlands surrounding Lake Mburo National Park; whether you want to sit back, sip on an ice-cold drink in a hammock, or head out into Lake Mburo National Park for a day of exciting exploration, there is something for everyone here.

Day 1 - Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meet your safari guide and leave Entebbe or Kampala in the morning. The target for the day is the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your first stop on the way is by the equator to get the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere. Continue on for lunch in the town of Mbarara and then do the last part of the journey through rolling hills with tea plantations. Arrive at the lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Overnight will be at Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 2 - Game-drive and boat-cruise

Wake up early in the morning for a game-drive in the Kasenyi part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you have the chance of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, an abundance of birds, and more. After lunch, your guide takes you to the afternoon boat-cruise on Kazinga channel. This two hour boat ride is a great highlight where you for example can look for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and warthogs along the shores of the channel.

Overnight will be at Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 3 - Tree-climbing lions in Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi

Head off to the Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in the morning. The drive there goes along an adventurous road and you have the chance of seeing baboons and elephants along the way. In Ishasha, you find topis, buffaloes, and search for the tree-climbing lions. The lions in this area are famous for climbing up great fig trees to take a rest.

After finishing your game-drive, the journey goes on to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Enjoy the changing landscape as the car slowly climbs up towards the misty mountains of the gorillas.

Overnight will be at Gorilla Mist Camp.

Day 4 - Gorilla trekking day

You have now reached the highlight of this gorillas and savanna safari; the gorilla trekking day. Your guide will take you to the starting point of the gorilla trekking in the morning and you set of for your adventure. The trek takes you through the jungle up to the point where the gorillas are and you get to spent one hour with them.

When you are back from the gorilla trekking your guide takes you to the stunningly beautiful Lake Bunyonyi.

Overnight will be at Bunyonyi Eco Resort.

Day 5 - Relax by Lake Bunyonyi

Have a free day by Lake Bunyonyi. Here you can rent a canoe to explore the islands, take a swim (the lake is free of hippos, crocodiles, and bilharzia), go for a hike, or just relax with a book.

Overnight will be at Bunyonyi Eco Resort.

Day 6 - Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you start off with your guide towards Lake Mburo National Park. A landscape of rolling green hills will pass by the windows before you reach the town of Mbarara for lunch and then continue the short distance to the park. Have a game-drive to see zebras and impalas on the way to the lodge.

Overnight will be at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 7 - Safari-walk and transfer to Kampala or Entebbe

Start the day early with a safari-walk in Lake Mburo National Park. Get the experience of being one with nature as you see the animals close by during the walk. Have breakfast at the lodge before starting the journey to Kampala and Entebbe. Make a stop along the way for lunch in Masaka or at the equator depending on time. You have now reached the end of your gorillas and savanna safari and your guide drops you in Kampala or Entebbe.

This gorilla and savanna safari will take place in Uganda, particularly in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Bunyonyi, and Lake Mburo National Park.
