Bushara Island Camp

Bushara Island Camp is a sustainable eco-tourism resort focusing on raising awareness and promoting protection of the environment. The camp evolved in response to the needs of the people of Lake Bunyonyi. Here you will spend two nights during the third and fourth day.

Pumba Safari Cottages

The Pumba Safari Cottages are located in Kyambura overlooking Queen Elizabeth National Park as they are along the rim of the western rift valley in Uganda. With a view over a rich animal kingdom, you might spot elephants coming to enjoy the waterhole in view from the verandas of the cottages. At Pumba Safari Cottages, you will be offered cozy accommodation, welcoming staff, and stunning views. You will stay here for the first two nights.

Rwakobo Rock

Rwakobo Rock is a peaceful and secluded retreat where you can breathe in the essence of wild Uganda. The eight comfortable and spacious cottages are dotted around the hill, all very private and offering great sunset views.

The main dining area overlooks an expanse of rock that adjoins the park. Set in the pristine Ankole ranch lands surrounding Lake Mburo National Park, whether you want to sit back, sip on an ice-cold drink in a hammock, or head out into Lake Mburo National Park for a day of exciting exploration, there is something for everyone there. You will spend two nights on the fifth and sixth day.

Program

Day 1 - Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Be picked up early by your guide in Kampala and start off towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way you will make a stop at the equator for the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere.

Continuing on, you will have lunch either in the town of Mbarara or at the lodge depending on the time. Enjoy the views from the lodge and relax in the evening. You will spend the night at the Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 2 - Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early in the morning for a game drive in the Kasenyi part of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Here you have the chance of seeing lions, elephants, buffaloes, an abundance of birds, and more.

After lunch, your guide will take you to the afternoon boat-cruise on Kazinga Channel. This two-hour boat ride is a great highlight where you can look for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and warthogs along the shores of the channel. You will spend the night at the Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 3 - Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Have a relaxed breakfast enjoying the view from the lodge before starting off towards Lake Bunyonyi. The drive takes you through a changing landscape and you will have a lot to look at.

Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the afternoon and be taken out to Bushara Island by boat. Take in the peaceful surroundings and settle in on the island. You will spend the night at Bushara Island Camp.

Day 4 - Relax by Lake Bunyonyi

Have a free day by Lake Bunyonyi. Here you can rent a canoe to explore the islands, take a swim, go for a hike, or just relax with a book. You will spend the night at the Bushara Island Camp.

Day 5 - Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast you start off with your guide towards Lake Mburo National Park. A landscape of rolling green hills will pass by the windows before you reach the town of Mbarara for lunch and then continue to the lodge in Lake Mburo National Park. You will spend the night at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 6 - Safari walk and game drive

Start the day early with a safari walk in Lake Mburo National Park. Get the experience of being one with nature as you see the animals close by during the walk. Have breakfast at the lodge and relax a bit before lunch.

After lunch in the afternoon it is time for your game drive in the park, here you can see impalas and zebras. Get back to the lodge to enjoy your last evening in Uganda's national parks for this safari. You will spend the night at the Rwakobo Rock.

Day 7 - Transfer to Kampala

Have a relaxed breakfast and then start the journey to Kampala. Make a stop along the way for lunch in Masaka or at the Equator depending on time. After the last part of the drive you arrive in Kampala in the afternoon and your guide drops you in Kampala or Entebbe depending on your flight arrangements.

This safari will take place at Kampala, Uganda. This safari will take place particularly in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Bunyonyi area, and Lake Mburo National Park. Uganda is blessed with a rich animal kingdom, breath taking nature, and welcoming people.

Uganda is the source of the great River Nile, the longest river in the world rooted finds its source in one of the largest fresh water lakes in the world, Lake Victoria. You will stay in various locations throughout the safari such as the Bushara Island Camp, Pumba Safari Cottages, and the Rwakobo Rock.

Food

Karumuna Safarisi caters for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets. Most of the dishes are served hot apart from those that must be cold like yoghurt and ice cream.

The local dishes include rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, steamed matooke, fine maize meal, bread, and the full range of confectioneries, samosas, pizza, pasta accompanied with stews of your choice, leafy vegetables, and fruit salad abound.

Barbecues can be arranged in advance. Most eating places serve a buffet so you can choose according to your preference. Drinks include the fizzy drinks and fresh juices such as passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and watermelon.

Things to do (optional)

During your free time, you can enjoy cultural dances, community visits, city tours, and historical sites visits. Swimming can be arranged in advance by locating hotels fitted with modern swimming pools. Karumuna Safaris can arrange swimming in the five or four star hotels.

When with Karumuna, feel free to ask about sports and games available in Uganda. For those with spiritual needs, ask Karumuna Safaris about places of worship. Spare some valuable time for shopping and spending time by the lake side which in most cases has a lot of space.

Most beaches in Uganda provide marvelous fried fish. In most tourism areas are spectacular forests which can be visited on request especially where you have spare time.
