You will be staying for 4 nights at several accommodations such as Pumba Safari Cottages, Gorilla Mist Camp, and Bushara Lodge. Most of the mid-range and luxury accommodations provide massage and sauna services at an extra fee, along with handling your laundry. For gym lovers you will not be disappointed as there are many of these services within the city and major towns of Uganda.


Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Meet your safari guide and drive out of Kampala in the morning for the start of your gorillas and chimps safari. Make a stop at the equator to get the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere.

Continue on to the town of Mbarara for lunch before the final part of the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Have a relaxed evening enjoying the view from the lodge. Your overnight stay will be at Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 2: Chimps trekking in Kalinzu Forest and a boat cruise

In the morning, your guide will take you to Kalinzu forest for your chimps trekking experience. You will go on a walk in the beautiful jungle and meet the chimps ahead of you. When you get back from the trekking activity, your guide will take you to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, it is time for the boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. This two-hour boat ride lets you look for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and birds by the shores. The boat ride on Kazinga Channel among hordes of hippos and crocodiles. See thousands of birds and enjoy the breeze and the clear water. Your overnight stay will be at Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 3: Tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Set off for the Ishasha, part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, after breakfast. Ishasha is known for its tree-climbing lions and the game drive here lets you look for them as well as the topis and buffaloes.

After the game drive, you will continue the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the home of the mountain gorillas. In Bwindi, you can take a walk in the village and see the deep valleys and endless mountains of the surrounding hills. Your overnight stay will be at Gorilla Mist Camp.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking day

Your guide will take you to the starting point of the gorilla trekking in the morning and you set off for your adventure. The trek takes you through the jungle up to the point where the gorillas are and you will get to spend one hour with them. The gorilla trekking will test your muscles but fortunately the cool weather will keep you cool as the birds sing for you among the tall trees.

When you are back from the gorilla trekking, your guide will take you to the stunningly beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. You can also take a boat ride on the dark waters of Lake Bunyonyi, the glassy waters also have a lot of bird filled swamps, you are certain to enjoy a tinge of romance. Your overnight stay will be at Bushara Island Camp.

Day 5: Transfer to Kampala

After breakfast, you will start the journey back to Kampala. Make a stop along the way for lunch in Mbarara or Masaka depending on the time. You have now reached the end of your gorilla and chimps safari and your guide will drop you in Kampala / Entebbe.


This safari will take place in Uganda, particularly in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.


Karumuna Safaris caters for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets. Most of the dishes are served hot apart from those that must be cold like yoghurt and ice cream. The local dishes include rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, steamed matooke, fine maize meal, bread, and the full range of confectioneries, samosas, pizza, pasta accompanied with stews of your choice, leafy vegetables, and fruit salad abound.

Barbecues can be arranged in advance. Most eating places serve a buffet so you can choose according to your preference, dessert includes. Drinks include the fizzy drinks and fresh juice (passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and watermelon).
