You will be accommodated at Mweya Safari Lodge. It is located on a peninsula within the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park and surrounded by the magical Rwenzori Mountains – the ‘Mountains of the Moon’; Mweya offers visitors a spectacular experience of comfort in the wilderness.

Each room at Mweya Safari Lodge has a breathtaking view of the Kazinga Channel. You can watch the forest hogs grazing the grass outside, as well as the odd, curious hippos. The cuisine is of the highest quality, presenting a range of exquisite Continental, Indian, and International cuisine.

Program

Day 1: Kampala - Queen Elizabeth National park

The park is about 376 kilometers (234 miles) by road southwest of Kampala. On arrival, you can have lunch and then go for an afternoon game drive during which various animals can be spotted, like elephants, buffaloes, impalas, Ugandan kobs, and lions.

Birds like the African skimmer, Chapins flycatcher, pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, shoebill stork, martial eagle, black-rumped buttonquail can also be seen by especially keen birders. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat ride

Have breakfast and later go for a game drive during which your guide will help you spot a plethora of animals. Return for lunch and, in the afternoon, go for a boat ride during which you will spot hippos, crocodiles, and various birds, including flamingos.

The boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel usually lasts for two hours and it gives visitors the opportunity to see a variety of yawning hippos in the water, water birds, buffaloes, elephants, zebras, Ugandan kobs, topis, water bucks, bush bucks, reed bucks, duiker, mongoose, swamp antelopes, spotted hyenas, warthogs, forest hogs. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park - Kampala

After an early breakfast, drive back to Kampala. You will have lunch and a few stopovers en-route. You will be dropped off at a place of your choice in Kampala or at the airport.

Location

Queen Elizabeth National Park is located in Western Uganda and covers an area of about 1,978 square kilometers which is shared between three districts that are Kasese, Bushenyi, and Rukungiri. It’s about 376 kilometers (234 miles) by road southwest of Kampala.

In this park, one can find Lake Edward, Lake George, and the Kazinga Channel that connects the two lakes. Other lakes are volcanic and they include Katwe Salt Lake from where salt is extracted. The vegetation in the park is open savanna, green meadows, semi- deciduous tropical forests, dense equatorial rain forest, and dense papyrus swamps.
