Program

Day 1: Nairobi

Day 2: Nairobi to Maasai Mara

After breakfast, the group will depart to the jewel of Kenya's park known as the world famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. This reserve is Kenya's number one park and is always on every tourist's must-visit list. Filled with various types of animals and birds, Maasai Mara is crowned as the climax of every safari in Kenya. Furthermore, the rolling grasslands and acacia savannah have been key background on the movie “Out Of Africa.”

Maasai Mara is also home to the Big Five animals, which are the elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and rhino, as well as over 450 species of birds. Apart from the Big Five, the Maasai Mara is also well known for the spectacular annual migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle from the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania crossing the Mara River into Kenya in search of fresh feeding grounds, which takes place in late July or August.

During the crossing, hundreds of animals are swept away by the first moving Mara River and others are killed by the ferocious African crocodiles. This crossing gives true meaning to the phrase "survival of the fittest."

Moving on, lunch will be served at the luxurious Mara Sopa Lodge that is set in the African bush. On an elevation between two streams, the lodge is a combination of luxury and adventure. After lunch, you can take some time out to read a book, novel, sunbathe, take a refreshing dip in the pool, or simply sit back and relax under the African sun. Best of all, the grounds are beautifully laid out with trees and flowers in the natural habitat.

In the afternoon, the group will head out with the driver guide in search for the shy and elusive leopard, other wild animals, and over 450 species of birds. Among them are 57 species of birds of prey. As the sun starts to dip into the African horizon, this is the perfect opportunity for you to capture the beautiful Mara landscape on camera. After that, the group will enjoy dinner and overnight stay at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar lodgings.

Day 3 and 4: Maasai Mara

You will start the day off with an early morning game drive before dawn, followed by breakfast upon your return to the camp. After breakfast, you can go swimming in the pool under the African sun or just sit back and relax for the rest of the day.

In the afternoon, the group will return to the bush in search of wildlife such as Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, elephants, lions, as well as the solitary and ill-tempered rhino. For today, all meals are provided and you will be staying overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge or similar lodgings.

Day 5: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

Today after an early breakfast, the group will be destined for a brief stopover at Lake Naivasha, the only freshwater lake in the Rift Valley. From the top of the Rift Valley escarpment, you can see the lake sparkling under the sun thousands of feet below you. The lake is home to a large colony of hippos and a ideal spot for bird watchers. 400 different species of birds have been recorded in this place by researchers. Also, an optional boat ride will be a good idea.

After a brief stopover at the lake, the group will travel north to Lake Nakuru. The lake is usually dotted with pink flamingos lining at the shores. After checking in and lunch at the camp, you can either sit back and relax or go for the Flamingo Hill Camp or similar campsites that are set on a hillside overlooking the lake. From there, you will have great and unforgettable panoramic views of the lake and pink flamingos.

In the afternoon, the group will go on a game drive where you can expect to see leopards, lions, giraffes, approximately a million of pink flamingos, as well as the short sighted and ill-tempered rhino. After that, the group will enjoy dinner and overnight stay at Flamingo Hill Camp or similar lodgings.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru to Samburu

Crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya, you will arrive at Isiolo Town and then down into the thorny landscape of Samburu country.

The northern area boasts of unique species of wildlife which cannot be found in any other part south of equator, from there you will find the Grevy zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, the long necked gerenuk, herds of elephants, and the predators abound. Moreover, the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River plays a major role in the ecosystem of this region.

Furthermore, your new home for the next two nights will be at Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar lodgings. Located at Samburu Reserve, it is beautifully incorporated with the existing natural springs and also one of its special features. There is an open-air restaurant overlooking the river, swimming pool, curio shop, and bars.

Moreover, its location at the oasis makes it a perfect base from which to explore the Samburu Reserve, as well as its sister reserve, the Buffalo Springs to the west.

Before dawn, the group will head out in search of Africa's wildcats. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for breakfast, rest, relax, read a book or novel, sunbathe, or perhaps go for a refreshing dip in the uniquely designed swimming pool before heading out for an afternoon game drive. The snow capped the peak of Kilimanjaro, rising above the white clouds and dominates every aspect of Amboseli. It forms a backdrop as well as an impressive display of the wildlife attracted to this location by swamps and springs fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro's melting snow.

Furthermore, with an airstrip at Empusel Gate, the park is also home to the Maasai people. Those tall, brave, and proud nomads live in close harmony with the environment and the wildlife that surrounds them.
