During this trip, you will be sleeping in hammocks in the jungle or in some local family house, since every night you will be in a different place. Therefore, please note that the maximum luggage weight is 25 pounds or around 11 kilograms per person. You must arrange to have any excess luggage remain in Joshua's Amazon Expeditions' office or at your hotel in Manaus.


The kayaking trip can be a challenge when you pass by some rapids during the paddling, and depending on the season, you might have to get off from the kayak and drag them over the rapids and continue paddling. During all the trips, there will be chances of spotting some birds like kingfisher, tucan, macaw, a variety of flycatcher, and egrets. There might be chances of spotting some different species of monkeys as well.

The guides

Joshua's Amazon Expeditions' tour guides are bilingual, and the native guide was born and rise in the small village on the region of the Urubu River. The guides are trained for the kayaking trip and also trekking in the jungle in different parts of the Amazon region. Your guides will be speaking English and Spanish. If you need a guide who speaks other languages, there will be an extra cost of 80 USD per day. You may send Joshua's Amazon Expeditions an inquiry for more information.


Day 1: Manaus to President Figueiredo (Urubu River)

You will be picked up at your hotel and then it will be time to travel by car at about 01:30 to the town of President Figueiredo until you get to the Urubu River. From there, you will get on the kayaks and you will begin to be paddling down the river until you get to a local house for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have a small hike in the jungle to visit waterfalls and some caves and back for an overnight on a local riverside camp in the jungle.

Day 2: Urubu River

After breakfast, it will be time to continue on the kayak, passing through some rapids until you get to a point to stop for lunch. In the afternoon, the adventure will continue until you get to a spot where you will get off on land for a short hike to see other waterfalls in the jungle, where you will have the chance to get in the water and enjoy the waterfalls by swimming in the pool. By the waterfalls, you will go back to the kayak, paddling until you get to a spot to set camp and overnight.

Day 3: Urubu River

The trip will continue after breakfast where you will be paddling all day with one stop for a short lunch. You will then continue paddling down the river. It will be a good time to spot some wildlife with the chance of challenging some rapids along the way, and also, to look for a place to overnight.

Day 4: Urubu River

As the adventure continues, you will get on a short hike in the jungle and explore a bit of the Amazon Jungle. You will go back for lunch, then it will be time to start paddling until you get to a place where you can stay overnight.

Day 5: Urubu River - Lindoia - Manaus

Today will be your last day, so you will be paddling in time to get out to the destinations where you will have a stop for lunch on the way and continue paddling to finally end the trip. You will get on to the car and head back to Manaus, arriving at around 18:00.

This tour will take place in the Amazon, Brazil. The kayak trip will start from Presidente Figueiredo, a small town 180 kilometers north of Manaus. It is a good starting point for trips into the jungle and is famous for its waterfalls.

Your destination will be close to a small village called Lindoia at the Ramal do Banco which lies five days away paddling downstream. The Urubu River is located in the north of Manaus, on the region of Presidente Figueiredo, the land of many waterfalls that flow down to the Amazon River. There are a couple of waterfalls and around 20 rapids that you will pass through during this kayak trip.


You will be served breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and mineral water. All meals are taken in Joshua's Amazon Expeditions' boat with all the equipment. The meals are based on meat, fish, chicken, rice, farinha (manioc flour), local fruits, and vegetables. In case you are a vegetarian, allergic to any kind of food, or any other thing please inform Joshua's Amazon Expeditions before getting on the tour.
