Explore South Africa and Mozambique in this 8-days safari. The Big Five will amaze you with their stunning appearance. There are also cheetah, hippos, and large herds of buffalo that you will see during this exciting experience. During this safari, you can choose to stay either in a tent or in a lodge. As for the tent, mattresses will be provided. The facilities include hot showers and toilets, with power points at most sites.
You will be picked up from O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) or your nearby lodge / hotel at 05:00. You will travel through Mpumalanga, “the place where the sun rises”, a province with spectacular scenic beauty and abundance of wildlife, lying in the Northeast of South Africa. You will stop en route for breakfast on your own expenses. After breakfast, you will make your way on the panoramic route through Orichstad and Lydenburg to Three Rondavels.
You will quickly book into your lodge in the Blyde River Canyon, the only green and the third largest canyon in the world, and have lunch on your own expenses. After lunch, you will visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a series of natural geological formations that seem nearer to art than nature. At your return from the potholes, you will have dinner together.
You will wake up at 06:00 so that you can have breakfast at 07:00, before leaving at 08:00 on the panoramic route. This forms part of the Blyde river canyon, where some of the oldest rocks in the world are exposed in this area, and this includes rare sights such as two Tufa waterfalls. Five of the South African Veld types occur in this area namely the Sour Montane Grassland, Subtropical Rain Forest, Riparian Forest, Sour Bushveld, and Mixed bushveld.
Here, you will visit some waterfalls and God’s Window before you will have lunch in Graskop. After lunch, you will make your way via Kowyns pass to Orpengate where you will enter the world-renowned Kruger National Park. On arrival at the camp, you will book in and later on enjoy a hearty dinner, before you go on an open vehicle night game drive with park rangers.
You will wake up at 05:00 leaving the camp as soon as the gates open and see if you can spot the early morning activities of the Big Five, making your way towards Tshokwane picnic spot where you will have breakfast in the open. After breakfast, you will make your way still game driving on some of the best roads towards Lower Sabie.
This area attracts large numbers of games, and is abundant in cheetah, lion, elephants, hippos, rhino, and large herds of buffalo. Here, you will book in and enjoy a nice lunch. In the afternoon, you will go on a sunset game drive with rangers of the park.
You will wake up at 06:00 to have breakfast at 07:00. You will leave Lower Sabie at 08:30 via Crocodile Bridge, and make your way to Lebombo Border Post and into Mozambique. You will stop en route for lunch on your own expenses. From here, you will make your way to Xai-Xai, one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. You will book in and make your bookings for the optional activities of the next day.
This day will be spent at your own leisure after breakfast. This popular destination has the world in its oyster. The massive reef running parallel to the beach provides natural protection against the strong waves at high tide and forms several small pools at low tide. You will get together later that evening for dinner.
This day will be spent at your own leisure after breakfast. Mozambique is one of Southern Africa’s best- kept secrets. White sand beaches and azure Indian Ocean combine to offer one of the world’s unspoiled seaside holidays. After a long day of excitement on the beach, you will relax with a hearty dinner.
After breakfast, you will be on the road again to your next destination, Komatipoort. You will enjoy a lunch in town before you book in. You will relax around the swimming pool for the afternoon. This evening you will enjoy your last dinner together.
You will wake up at 06:00, leaving Komatipoort at 07:00 through the beautiful lowveld, to the highlands of Mpumalanga. You will stop for an en route brunch before you continue into your last stretch to Johannesburg, where you will arrive at about 18:00 to finish your safari.
