Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara
This morning, you will drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is home to the Big Five, which includes lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino.
Then, you will have lunch at the lodge and relax before departing for the afternoon game drive. Large mammals are varied and easy to see in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, as it is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Residents of the park are Maasai giraffe, buffalo, eland, and thousands of plains game including impala, zebra, topi, and both Thomson’s and grants gazelles.
Day 2: Maasai Mara
The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs will continue today during extensive game drives. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals, plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.
Day 3: Maasai Mara to Lake Naivasha
This day there will be no game drive. Wake up at 7:30 a.m. You can either decide to visit a Maasai village, which is optional or plan it with the driver's guide. At 8:30, you’ll proceed to Lake Naivasha. Lunch will be served at Mai Mahiu. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Leisure Apex Resort.
Day 4: Hell's Gate Nationa Park - Nairobi
After breakfast, you will go for a morning bird walk with the aim of viewing birds on the shores of the lake with a few hours of relaxation before lunch. Then, you will have an afternoon visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, which is a breeding ground for vultures in Kenya such as Lammergeyer vultures. There are also anticipated species like imperial eagles, Schalow’s Wheatear, chin spot Batis. Then, you will depart to Nairobi to mark the end of your safari.
