Day 1: Arusha - Tarangire

You will be picked up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi after breakfast and will drive to Tarangire National Park. The park gets its name from the Tarangire River which rises in Tanzania’s central highland and lures thousands of plains game to its banks. Your game drive will take you through this 3,000 square mile park, which is known for its large number of elephants and iconic baobab trees. Tarangire is the home of over 2,000 elephants and 500 bird species.

Dinner and overnight will be spent inside the Tarangire National Park.

Day 2: Tarangire - Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park for an early morning game drive.

This spectacular national park is located at the north western corner of Lake Manyara, a hallow soda lake which lies at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment and is not only known for its large flocks of flamingos, but also for the elusive tree climbing lions.

After lunch and a short rest from the heat, there will be an afternoon game drive as you head to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, the day will begin with a scenic drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to Serengeti National Park. As you cross the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, you may make an optional stop at Olduval Gorge where there is a museum housing documents of 1.8 million-year old human-like fossils. You will then head towards Serengeti National Park and will game drive along the way to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Central Serengeti

Your entire day will be devoted to spectacular game drives in the Central Region of Serengeti National Park. The Seronera River Valley offers superb game viewing throughout the year with an abundance of animals who inhabit this region.

As an option, you may also choose a champagne breakfast as you glide over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon.

Today, you will enjoy a hot lunch followed by a short siesta in the heat of the day. After this memorable day, you will go back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast each day, you will enjoy full days in the northern part of the Serengeti. One of the impressive highlights will be the migration across the Mara River. The northern region of the Serengeti is rich with migration opportunities across these endless plains. Your guide will be schooled on the current location for the various migration patterns.

Once again, at the end of your days, you will be brought to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will depart for your final day of exploration in the magnificent Serengeti National Park. After your morning safari drive, you will go to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As an option, you will have the opportunity to stop at Masai Boma, a traditional Masai village. Your dinner and overnight lodge stay will be at the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha

You will begin your day with a descent of 600 meters into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, which is home to an estimated 30,000 wild animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black Rhinos. The crater has a dense population of predators such as the lion, cheetah, and the elusive leopard. Lunch will be at the Ngoitokitok Springs as you watch the hippos meander in and out of this small spring lake. After lunch, you will have one last game drive as you begin your return and drive back to Arusha.

End of service.

There is no set age limit, however, Jambo Kili Tours discourage parents with children under the age of 8 to join such a safari due to the lengthy drives and the fact that nights are spent on unfenced campsites. If parents are nevertheless convinced that their child/children are unfazed by the long driving distances and the travel time that goes with it, children are welcome to join the safari. But please keep in mind that the responsibility for each child lies with you as a parent at all times.

Starting off and ending at Moshi, this tour will take you through Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Seronera River Valley, Mara River, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Ngorongoro Crater.

Serengeti National Park

One of the most iconic parks in Tanzania is the Serengeti National Park. As a comparison, the Serengeti is approximately ten times larger than Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This truly offers the opportunity to get off the beaten path and to be a witness to such marvels as the annual herbivore migration, which includes nearly two million wildebeest and thousands of antelope and zebra.
