Join Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge and enjoy a pleasant stay while communing with nature. Swim in Lake McKenzie, the island’s most beautiful lake with its clear blue water ringed by white sandy beaches. Explore Pile Valley and Central Station with its huge satinay, scribbly gum, brush box and kauri trees. Walk along the banks of Wanggoolba Creek which flows gently and silently through lush rainforest. Trek over Hammerstone Sand Blow and swim in emerald-green Lake Wabby. Travel up famous Seventy-Five Mile Beach to see the colored sands of the Pinnacles and the wreck of the cruise ship Maheno. Take in the stunning views of the island beaches and sand blows from Indian Head, spot dolphins, rays, sharks, turtles, or even whales swimming in the sea below.
Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge accommodation provides quality, modern, low cost, air conditioned large self-contained apartments, situated in a tropical pool setting with BBQ and direct access to Shelly Beach.
Most of the units are on the Ground Floor overlooking the gardens and pool area. Located close to restaurants, coffee shops and a local convenience store, they are in a unique position with nice quiet units.
On arrival at Hervey Bay Airport, you will be transferred by their Commuter Bus, for a three night stay at Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge, rated number 6 in Australia, and rated by the people who have previously stayed at the lodge. They also have apartments on the beachfront overlooking Torquay Beach and in walking distance to great restaurants and hotels.
On day two, you will be transferred to Hervey Bay Airport, where you will board your flight to Fraser Island for the day. On arrival on Fraser Island you will be met and briefed on the vehicle you will be driving for the day and suggestions of the highlight areas to visit whilst on Fraser Island.
In the afternoon, you will again join your flight for the return trip to Hervey Bay Airport, and on arrival at Hervey bay Airport, you will be collected from the airport, and transfer you to Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge.
On day three you will be taken on a tour of Hervey Bay to see Kangaroos in the wild or perhaps visit Lady Elliott Island for a day trip.
On day four, Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge will transfer you back to Hervey Bay Airport for your return flight.
World Heritage listed Fraser Island, Australia, is a remarkable natural beauty that has been developing for over 800,000 years. Showcasing spectacular eroded sculptures of iron-rich colored sands, over 40 rare freshwater lakes, each its own unique shape and color, towering rainforests dating back 1,000 years, the world’s only rainforest growing in sand, crystal clear creeks, swampy wetlands, heathlands bright with wildflowers and sweeping beaches lined with Pandanus palms.
Named K’Gari, meaning paradise, by the indigenous Badiala people, Fraser Island is 4WD access only; no bitumen roads, no shopping centers; just pure natural beauty with camping grounds and lodges sparsely dotted across Fraser Island. On Fraser Island, view over 325 species of birds, several species of wallabies, possums, turtles, flying foxes, echidnas, and Eastern Australia’s purest form of dingoes. The warm waters surrounding Fraser Island attract an abundant of marine life including dugongs, dolphins, turtles, sharks, manta rays and magnificent humpback whales, which can be spotted off the Eastern Beach and Indian Head from late July to early November.
Please book your flight to arrive at Hervey Bay Airport (HVB). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge will pick you up from the airport.
For anyone travelling by bus, air, or train link Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge is just a short taxi ride away. Be sure to give the address; “94 Cypress St Torquay” as a similarly named business can confuse taxi drivers.
Hervey Bay is very spread out (12 kilometers long), there are two entry points to Hervey Bay (at either end).
If entering Hervey Bay from the South West side: Follow “Boat Harbour Drive” through the main commercial district past McDonald’s and KFC which will be on your right side, continue for another 4.5 kilometers along “Boat Harbour Drive” until you see a large green sign that says “Ann St - Shelly Beach”, turn left into “Ann St” and proceed 1 kilometer to the stop sign at “Cypress St”, turn right into “Cypress St”, and Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge is 30m on the left side of Cypress Street.
If entering in from the South East side of Hervey Bay “Booral Rd” (past the airport), at the first roundabout turn left onto “Boat Harbour Drive”. Look for a large green sign saying “Ann St - Shelly Beach” and turn right into “Ann St”, proceed 1 kilometers to the Stop sign at “Cypress St”, turn right into “Cypress St”, and Hervey Bay Colonial Lodge is 30m on the left side of the street.
