Heritage of African Jungles Tours and Travel invites you to join this unforgettable safari experience in Samburu and Ol Peteja. The Samburu Game Reserve is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River in the dry northern reaches of Kenya. It is a hot and arid area characterized by a parched landscape of hills and plains. The presence, however, of the river and its shady trees attracts a large number of wildlife animals. This safari provides you with an opportunity to see wildlife that only lives in the dry northern regions of Kenya.
You will be accommodated at either the Ashnil Samburu Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar on day one and two, and Sweetwaters tented camp, Ol Pejeta house, Ol Pejeta cottages or similar on day three.
Day 1: Nairobi / Samburu
Pick up at the hotel or airport and drive north passing through the agricultural farmlands on the slopes of Mount Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve. You will arrive at the semi-arid and open savannah plains of Samburu reserve in time for lunch. After lunch, you will take off for your first exciting game drive in the park. Later in the evening you will check-in to either the Ashnil Samburu Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Sopa Lodge or something similar for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Full day in Samburu
After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on a full day of game viewing in the park. This park is known as the place for the Samburu semi-nomadic tribesmen, the reticulated giraffe, the Gravy’s zebra gerenuk, beisa oryx and, a host of big game including elephant and lion. it gives you the refreshment of your mind as the park is not populated and not many people visits here. Heritage of African Jungle Tours and Travel has a concentration of the home to the Big Five; elephant, lion, rhino, leopard, buffalo, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gravy zebra, Besia oryx, endangered wild dog as well as pun cake tortoise - endangered.
There are over 450 species of birds identified and aquatic species in the Waso Nyiro River including, vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches and others. The whole day will be spent exploring the park for the whole day game drive. Later in the evening, you will return to your accommodations for dinner and your overnight stay. All meals and overnight will be at Ashnil Samburu Camp, Samburu Game Lodge, Samburu Sopa Lodge / similar.
Day 3: Samburu / Ol Pejeta
After breakfast, you will drive to Ol Pejeta sanctuary to arrive at the camp for lunch and afternoon game drive with the combination of amazing wildlife and stunning views across the open plains of Ol Pejeta guarantees an unforgettable safari experience. You visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of the black rhino with its stunning forty specimens.
Enjoy a game drive in the park where one could see reticulated giraffe, common or Burchell's, zebra, African elephant, Cape buffalo, warthogs, waterbucks, Jackson's hartebeest, lion, cheetah, leopard, steinbok, striped hyena, suni, Thomson's gazelle and impala. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded including the Ostrich. Then, you will have nature walks in the company of the resident naturalist. All meals and overnight will be at Sweetwaters tented camp, Ol Pejeta house, Ol Pejeta cottages or similar.
Day 4: Ol Pejeta / Nairobi
After breakfast, have a morning game drive where you will search for the shy cat (the leopard) and other plain game before returning to Nairobi. Lunch is available at an extra cost.
