Day 1: Nairobi / Amboseli National Park

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive south through Masai country to the plains below Mount Kilimanjaro where Amboseli is situated. After a stopover lunch at the lodge, you will proceed into the scenic Amboseli National Park for a game drive returning to the lodge in the evening for a sundowner. Despite its small size (392 square kilometers), this fragile ecosystem supports a wide range of mammals (well over 50 of the larger species) and birds (over 400 species).

The waters from Mount Kilimanjaro drain down the mountain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains. Amboseli lacks the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides limited cover so you have better chances of seeing some of the larger predators. Elephant, buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, warthogs, Masai giraffes, zebra, baboon, and waterbuck are all present in the park. Meals and overnight stay will be at Kibo Safari Camp or similar accommodation. This day's meal plan includes lunch and dinner.

Day 2: Amboseli / Tsavo West National Park

You will drive early to Tsavo West National Park and a stop-over is made at Mzima Springs, the source of most of Mombasa’s fresh water; you can walk down to an underwater observation chamber where it is literally possible to watch hippo or crocodile swim along the floor of this crystal clear spring. Tsavo is particularly famous for its large herds of elephants. Back at the lodge, you will enjoy a sundowner, dinner, and a good night’s sleep. Meals and overnight stay will be at Sentrim Tsavo. This day's meal plan includes lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Tsavo West / Tsavo East National Park

An early morning game drive permits further exploration of this great park followed by breakfast. You will then depart to Tsavo East National Park. When driving along the red-earth tracks, keep eyes open for the movement and signs of African wildlife. The more you look, the more you will see. Don’t forget to enjoy the excitement of the trip as you point out the wildlife. It will be amazing to see the wildlife living in close proximity to the other, see the huge animals. Keep the eyes open for the giraffes, they are surprisingly well camouflaged as they nibble the tops of trees. Look under the shady trees to find lions sleeping after a hunt out and watch out as gazelles and cheetahs stroll across the road just in front of you.

The safari extends to Chyulu Hills, a volcanic mountain range with a mix of volcanic cones and barren lava flows, of which the most interesting in Shetani, meaning "devil" in Swahili. Game include buffalo, zebra, giraffe, oryx, lion, leopard and many species of birds and plants. Tsavo East boasts of bushy grassland and open plains alternate with savannah and semi-arid acacia scrub and woodlands The Yatta plateau is the world's largest lava flow.

Game includes elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, crocodile, waterbuck, kudu, gerenuk, and zebra. It is a home to some of the largest herds of elephants in Kenya. 500 bird species are recorded including ostrich and some migratory kestrels and buzzards stop at Tsavo East during their long flight south. Tsavo East National Park is an easily accessible and very popular park as is indicated by the high number tourists. It is the only place you can see the remaining hirola antelope among other wildlife. Here, you will find the world’s largest lava flow and Galana river coursing its way to the Indian Falls. There is also a rhino sanctuary created to protect the rhinos. Meals and overnight stay will be at Voi Wildlife Lodge.

Day 4

This is the end of the safari.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is Kenya’s first established game park and the word ‘Amboseli’ is the Masai word for “salt dust”. It is situated on the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, very close to the Tanzanian border. With the majestic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, spectacular displays of wildlife (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, and buffalo) and various plains’ game, postcard-perfect pictures are almost always guaranteed.

Tsavo East and West National Parks

At nearly 22,000 square kilometers, Tsavo is the biggest national park in Kenya and has large populations of elephants, zebras, hippos, leopards, and birds.
