Hamadryade Lodge is a luxurious Amazon jungle lodge. Set in the Amazon rainforest, it has five bungalows hidden in the jungle. Exclusive and luxurious, Hamadryade is a hotel that offers a personalized service, through the Amazon tours, on land and on the water with numerous activities.

The Hamadryade Lodge was built on an old gold mine site, on top of a hill in the rainforest. They wished to use this very particularity because of the opportunity it represented for them: a chance to fix what had been destroyed in the past, turn something ugly into a place where nature could regain its rights and display all the wonders it has to offer.

When they arrived, the site was almost bare, with only a few trees surviving on this now hostile soil. The first advantage for them, they didn’t have to cut trees to make space for the buildings, they only cleared the opportunist plants that prevented a healthy regeneration of the ground, and start planting endemic plants to restart a productive cycle by naturally enriching the soil with nitrogen. Twice they planted these species of plants and burned them until the soil was ready to receive a larger range of plants, flowers, and small trees.

This is the very essence of the Hamadryade, as these Greek Deities, not only they wish to protect nature, but they work to develop its health and beauties. They sealed the bad memories of this mining past under a luxurious garden, hosting a large variety of local flowers and plants, attracting again numerous species of birds, butterflies, and small animals.

Suites Bungalow

Suites Bungalow is Hamadryade's bungalow with contemporary design - based on lines, purity, and simplicity. The lodge is a perfect example of modern architecture integrated with the surrounding jungle environment to offer an amazing view of the Rio Napo and the Amazonian jungle. The four spacious bungalows and the Deluxe Bungalow, ideal for families, located in the midst of the jungle, offer a perfect opportunity to fully live your Amazonian experience.

Large windows with beautiful views, Italian linens, and luxurious bathrooms - all contribute to mixing style and comfort to adventure. At night, the sounds of the jungle will accompany your dreams for a perfect night. Each bungalow is a tribute to the various Amazonian ethnic groups, between tradition and modern design. The French owners, Sebastien Cazaudehore and Ambre Franrenet, will welcome you in this hidden paradise and will make your stay the highlight of your trip.

Deluxe Bungalow

Deluxe Bungalow is Hamadryade's most luxurious and spacious bungalow perfect for a family or a couple. When you arrive at Hamadryade Lodge, not only you discover an eco-lodge, but also an ethnic-lodge. The decor is inspired by the cultures of local communities. The people from those communities contributed to the construction of the lodge and still work there, but Sebastien and Amber, the owners, didn't stop there.

They really got involved in development programs to promote and revitalize those cultures through tourism: help to discover and understand the Kichwa medicinal plants, organize tours in the rainforest with native guides. They will help you see that link that binds people from the indigenous communities to their environment as well as their lifestyle, in perfect harmony with nature.

Jungle hike

In the calm surroundings of the propriety, Hamadryade introduces its two-hour jungle hike. You will get the chance to experience the fauna and flora of the secondary rainforest, some parts of which had never been touched or cultivated by the human hand. The walk had been designed with the help of the licensed local guide as an alternative for those who would like to get a genuine jungle experience without necessarily making it a full-day excursion. The path starts at the lodge and winds up for approximately an hour through natural labyrinths and wild streams to the Valle Hermoso indigenous community. After a pause, you will return to the lodge inspired by the beautiful natural formations of the “backyard”.

River Rafting in the rainforest is one of the most entertaining activities at Hamadryade Lodge. Rivers in Ecuador are spectacular, with breathtaking sceneries, the best nature has to offer, but for the people who wish to go a step further, even beginners, people who want an additional adrenaline rush, why not trying kayaking. A profesional team will be there to instruct you, teach you the basics you need to tackle your first waves and discover sensations never before experienced. Beginners usually start on a class II river like the Anzu, but rivers up to class IV+ are there for more experienced paddlers.

Kichwa community

Shiripuno is a Kichwa community close to Misahualli. A women's association will receive you in this part of the community to share with you their culture and their knowledge of the Kichwa life in the Amazon rainforest.

From making chocolate, panning gold, see the traditional dances, to understanding the realities of the life of the Kichwa people, you'll spend a lovely day filled with interesting and nice activities. You can spend a full day or just a half day there, enjoy a nice traditional lunch with the Maito, fish/chicken cooked in a large leaf with jungle spices. This activity can also be combined with another half day one.

Rafting class IV (+)

The Jondachi, the Hollin, the Misahualli, you can run all those rivers, through amazing canyons deep within the Rainforest. This is a unique opportunity to discover the wonders hidden in the Amazon, some of the most pristine and beautiful rivers for rafting on the planet. If you feel a little adventurous and wish to do rafting for the first time in the best condition possible on a class IV river, this is the perfect opportunity. The team of professional guides will make this experience the highlight of your trip. From transport, lunch, all the gear, everything is taken care of; you only have to enjoy yourself and gaw at the incredible beauties Nature has to offer.

Rafting class III

The "Jatun Yaku", the Big Water as they say in Kichwa is the upper part of the Napo River, where it is wild and untamed. There you can enjoy its large volumes of water, fun waves and breathtaking sceneries, everything for a fun and amazing day. Perfect for beginners who want to discover this sport without compromising on safety and sensations, the team of professionals will take you for a fun ride through this beautiful river. You'll get to see the rainforest through a unique angle.

Las Latas Waterfalls

A short walk in the jungle will lead you to this amazing waterfall dropping in a natural swimming pool, the perfect spot for a refreshing bath in the jungle on hot days. Along the way, you'll enjoy the rainforest and its wonders, following a track leading to another one of these Amazon wonders. The indigenous guide will also give you a multitude of information along the way as he spots tree frogs, insects, medicinal plants. From that nice walk and the refreshing swim, you will be taken to Misahualli for lunch in the village, enjoying the sight of monkeys playing on the main square.

Waysu Yacu Lagunas

Deep in the rainforest, small lagunas filled with pristine water are hidden, shielded from the world by thick jungle, waiting for you enjoy its swimming pools and the beauties of its small waterfalls. Overlooking the Jatun Yacu river, the view is breathtaking, and while you immerse yourself in its crystal clear waters you can get a real feel of the surrounding wilderness. In some cases, short or long walks can be organized around the beach, in the hills through the rainforest.

Jatun Sacha jungle hike

Jatun Sacha is the "Big Forest" in Kichwa language: a large biological reserve that has been under protection for many years. Large and small rivers slither through the primary and secondary rainforest, still inhabited by many animal species, home to large flocks of birds. The hike is approximately 13 kilometers long, and you'll need about five to six hours to complete it. It is not a very hard hike, but it is physical and will challenge your legs at the end of the day.

You'll arrive at the Santa Barbara Kichwa community where you'll reach another track along the river or you'll find a dugout canoe to come down on the river Arajuno if available. If it is not easy, it is because it is a real jungle; thick, muddy, and very green. If you want the real Amazonian experience it will have to be through Jatun Sacha.

Amazoonico Animal Reserve

You will walk to the beach in Misahualli and board a long canoe and start a journey down the river on the Napo towards the Amazoonico Animal Rescue center. You will have a 45-minute canoe ride through one of the largest Amazonian river enjoying breathtaking sceneries. Then you'll arrive at the Amazoonico, on the Arajuno River, in the middle of the Selva Viva jungle reserve.

The Amazoonico was set up to rescue and care for the Amazonian animals who escaped traffic or injuries. There you'll see monkeys roaming free, ocelots, boas, tapirs, and many other animals. Enjoy the trip back to Misahualli and arrive for a late lunch in the village. This activity can easily be combined with the Shiripuno community for example.

The journey will cover several places in Ecuador. Hamadryade Lodge is located near Misahualli, in the Tena Canton, in a part of the Amazon rainforest. The location is directly accessible by car any day of the week. You can enjoy the mild climate and discover the surrounding jungles and whitewater rivers.

Hamadryade Lodge is a luxurious hotel located in the High Amazon region, near Puerto Misahualli. This ecosystem, even if it is still the Amazonian rainforest, is very different from the one in Lower regions. They are at 500 meters altitude with hills and small mountains. Therefore, the climate remains pleasant all year round (24 degrees Celsius in average), and the absence of swamps allows an easier access to the more remote zones of Primary Rainforest, and of course, the most positive aspect is that they do not suffer from the presence of mosquitoes and malaria.

The tours in the Jatun Sacha’s jungle will be a good opportunity to discover primary and secondary jungles and a large variety of animal and vegetal species inhabiting the region. This hilly topography also offers the unique opportunity to enjoy the numerous and pristine whitewater rivers around during day trips in rafting, kayaking, or tubing. Yet a larger range of activities is available for the clients.
