Seronera Campsite

The public campsites which are collectively called Seronera Campsite are located in the Central Serengeti area known as the Seronera. Seronera Campsite is one of the most famed campsites in Tanzania for animal encounters. Animals will pass through the campsite at night on their nocturnal wanderings. This campsite is guarded. Tents have mats, and bathrooms are outside the tent.

Osinon Tented Camp

Just a few miles drive from Seronera airstrip in the heart of Serengeti National Park, there lies a true wilderness retreat in the name of Osinon Camp. Set under the stunning umbrella of the acacia trees, Osinon is the perfect camp for exploring the centre of Serengeti. Positioned in the central Serengeti, which was voted the best safari park in Africa, the luxury camp gives you a unique chance to view a stunning array of wildlife passing from Southern Serengeti to the Northern corridor.

With big 5, the world’s largest wildebeest’s migration in the Serengeti, the evening sundowner at the amazing fireplace and bush dinner, Osinon puts you in the centre of it all. The comforts embrace 14 luxury en-suite canvas tents including a family tent with a perfect private lounge all giving you a spectacular view of the endless plains of Serengeti.

Simba Campsite

Simba Campsite lies on the very rim of Ngorongoro Crater and has an excellent view across the caldera. A fantastic sunrise over the crater rim makes a fine breakfast scene. Often, there are elephants wandering around the camp. This campsite is guarded.

Tents have mats, and bathrooms are outside the tent. Facilities at Simba Campsite are basic, but this is more than made up for by the atmosphere of this camp in the clouds.

Rhino Lodge

Ideally located on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater rim, Rhino Lodge offers a perfect base from which to explore the Ngorongoro Crater and its surroundings. After 21:00 the generator is switched off and a limited amount of electricity is available from the storage batteries for lighting. After dark please be careful and never walk around the grounds unless you are accompanied by a member of the staff. One of the Askaris (watchmen) will accompany you to and from the dining room. They are also on duty throughout the night should you require assistance.

Program

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, the tour departs. The first stop is Arusha town for any last minute purchases before you head off on your safari. Afterwards, you head towards the Tarangire National Park for a game drive with picnic lunch at the park. Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant population and baobab trees. It forms the centre of an annual migratory cycle that includes up to 3000 elephants, 25,000 wildebeest, and 30,000 zebras. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Then head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning game drive and after, depart to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will have a stopover at Olduvai Gorge, boasting a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. Late afternoon, transfer to camp where you will have dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw to this picturesque national park, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. You will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually been seen here. Late afternoon transfer to Arusha hotel or airport drop off.
