During the safari, you will be staying at Lenchada Tourist Camp, Mara Sidai Camp, or Rhino Tourist Camp. Masai mara camping offers accommodation in form of permanently erected tents which have beds, beddings, mosquito nets, flush toilets and hot showers. Beddings are changed every morning and you will also be provided with a towel. A tent can accommodate one, two or three people.

There is a common dining area where meals are served and a bar. In the evening, there is also a bonfire and the Maasai warriors will entertain you as you relax. Most campsites use generators as the source of lighting and the generators are turned off at 10 - 11 pm. Some of the camps are located right outside the boundary of the Maasai Mara though there isn't a clear demarcation or fence of the game reserve. Animals sometimes wander in the camps, but the camps are very safe and Maasai warriors are always on the lookout.

Day 1: Nairobi - Maasai Mara National Reserve

A representative from Goshawk Tours will meet you at your hotel or pick you up from the airport. After giving you a briefing, he or she will introduce you to your safari guide and other members of the tour. You will be driven north and have a brief stopover at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint where you will get to see a part of the valley and take some photos. The valley runs from Jordan in Israel to Mozambique and has a distance of 8.000 miles.

You will proceed to Narok town where you will have your lunch. Afterward, you will continue the journey and arrive in Maasai Mara late afternoon. The world renown Maasai Mara National Reserve is famous for the millions of wildebeest, gazelles, and zebras that cross the Mara River and forms the wildebeest migration spectacle. After that, you will be assisted to check into your respective tents and then head out for your evening game drive. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Maasai Mara National Reserve

On this day, you will have a full day game drive. After waking up, you will converge at the dining area to have breakfast. Your safari guide will also liaise with the cook to organize for your picnic lunches. After that, you will head out in the search of a game. Maasai Mara National Reserve has an exceptional population of big cats, herds of elephants, zebras, resident wildebeest, antelopes, and gazelles.

Bird life is also plenty. Maasai Mara National Reserve also offers a very high chance of spotting all the Big Five. You will spend the whole day by enjoying a game viewing which includes a visit to Mara River where you will find crocodiles lazing around. After that, you can return to the camp by 16:00, have a cup of coffee or tea, and then head out for an escorted walking safari with a Maasai warrior. You will have dinner and stay overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve - Nairobi

On the last day, you will enjoy a pre-breakfast game drive and depart the camp by 06:30. It will give you the opportunity to view the African sunrise and spot any game species you might have missed on your previous game drives.

You will return to the camp around mid morning. Afterward, you will enjoy your full breakfast and bid farewell to the camp's staff and any friends you might have made. You will be driven to Nairobi and enjoy lunch en route to arrive in the late afternoon. You will be dropped off at a hotel in the city.

This safari will take place in Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. The world renown Maasai Mara National Reserve is a northern extension of Serengeti National Park which is located in Tanzania. Maasai Mara National Reserve covers an area of 1510 square kilometers.

Maasai Mara National Reserve has more than 450 identified species. All members of the Big Five can be seen in the reserve. A large number of ungulates which include wildebeests, Thomson's gazelles, Grant's gazelles, buffalos, rhinos, impalas, topis, elands, zebras, giraffes, and duikers are also easily visible. The common predators are lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, jackals, and foxes. Whereas, some common birds include the common ostriches, secretary birds, kori bustards, hornbills, storks, eagles, and vultures.

In the park, the wildebeest migration happens annually. The spectacle is considered as one of the 7th wonders of the world. Review by Mwangi Magana from Kenya

    Beautiful, exciting and affordable

CONS Cons: A bit late start, and bad mosquito nets in the tent.

PROS Pros: Me and my girlfriend had a great time with Goshawk tours. We did a three day trip to Masai Mara including visiting the Mara river by foot. The trip was exactly as described and everything was simple and organized for us. The start of the trip was a bit late as we were instructed to show up an hour before we left, so there was a lot of waiting. However, once the trip started we had a great time and we saw a LOT of animals. (Lions, zebras, cheetas, elephants, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, wildebeest, a leopard) The camp was great with good food and a nice atmosphere and we visited the Masai village which was incredibly interesting. We and the other two couples in the mini bus all had a great time. Thank you!

Organizer response: Thank you for the review.
