Ndutu Safari Lodge consists of 34 stone cottages that extend from the central, open-sided bar, lounge, and dining room. Each room has its own verandah that faces Lake Ndutu. All rooms have en-suite facilities. The cottages are made from local materials and offer comfortable accommodation.
In the morning at 07:00 after an early breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater floor for game drives. All the Big Five live in this wonderful caldera along with other animals such as zebra, hippo, wildebeest, hyena, birds, and more. The birds include flamingos on the soda lake, geese, storks, and vultures. You will have a picnic lunch served in the picnic site in the crater at Ngoitoktok swamp, a hippo pool. After lunch, you will proceed with an afternoon game viewing in the crater. At 14:30, you will ascend the crater and drive to Ndutu for dinner and an overnight stay at Ndutu Safari Lodge.
You will enjoy your breakfast and depart for a full day game drive in Ndutu. You will come across a canopy of giant acacia overlooking a soda lake and Lake Ndutu. Animals like wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, elephants, lions, and gazelles are found in this area. Ndutu area is divided into swamps, woodlands, and soda lakes. It is also bordered with worlds’ famous Serengeti short grass plains. Afterward, you will have dinner and stay overnight at Ndutu Safari Lodge.
After breakfast, you will depart for a full day safari in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunches. You will later return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
At 08:00 after breakfast, you will check out and drive back to Arusha with an option to visit curio shops for souvenirs. You will then be dropped off at Arusha Airport (ARK) for lunch and later catch a flight to Zanzibar departing at 14:00.
This safari will take place at Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is located 190 kilometers west of Arusha and it covers 260 square kilometers of land. Surrounded by very steep walls rising 610 meters from the crater floor, the crater is within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area that covers some 8,300 square kilometers land. It is the eight wonder of the world and the largest unbroken volcano caldera in the world. The wildlife includes black rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, hyena, gazelles, and more. There are also a variety of birds such as flamingos on the soda lake, ostrich, marabou, and more.
Serengeti National Park is the number one on the top 10 places to see animals in the wild. The park is located 320 kilometers drive from Arusha town. These endless plains cover an area of 14,763 square kilometers with short and long grass plains, the great savannah plains, and rock outcrops. The park is famous for the annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeests and zebras including a large number of carnivores. The wildlife includes cheetah, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, wildebeest, hartebeest, topi, eland, crocodiles, grant gazelle, and more. There is also a variety of birds such as kori bustard ostrich, secretary birds, and more including the migrant birds from Eurasia.
Daily meals and bottled water will be provided during your safari. The food menu range from local to international standard, prepared by well-trained chefs. Breakfast is a buffet of fresh fruits and cereals. An English cooked breakfast will be made to order. This will be available from 07.00 a.m. onward. Boxed picnic breakfasts can be ordered for those who want to be out early. Lunch is three courses served from 12.30 p.m. to 02:00 p.m.
Dinner is a healthy four-course affair and will be served from 07.30 p.m. to 09.00 p.m. From 05.30 a.m. onward and throughout the day, tea, coffee, and biscuits are available on a complimentary basis in the lounge area. Herbal tea and decaffeinated coffee are also available. Guests can also request early morning drinks to be delivered to their rooms. Vegetarian alternative and any special needs are offered with prior notice. There are no restrictions on the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks. There are plenty of imported beers, wines, and spirits in many places.
You can book your flight and arrive at Arusha Airport (ARK). After that, you have to take a flight to Ndutu airstrip at an extra cost. Approximate flying time from the airport to Ndutu Safari Lodge is 50 minutes. You will be picked up from the airstrip since free transport is available from the airstrip.
