Join GoExplore Safaris in a tour that will take you one of Uganda’s remaining tropical rain forests. Visit the primates’ home in the “Pearl of Africa,” one of the most rewarding destinations to explore due to its strategic location between Kabarole and Kamwenge Districts. This is your chance for a unique and fulfilling adventure!
Chimpanzee Forest Guest House offers accommodations in Kibale Forest National Park. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar and restaurant. Car rental is available at the property, and the area is popular for cycling.
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (EBB). Depending on the time of arrival, drive to Kibale National park; the drive goes for more or less five hours. You will have lunch en route. It is such a scenic drive covering the highland woodlands and tea estates. You will enjoy the home of over 70 mammal species, most famous of which are 13 species of primates, including the chimpanzee. Overnight at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House, full board.
After breakfast, you will go for chimp trekking. Kibale’s 1450 chimpanzees represent Uganda’s largest population of this endangered primate. During the trekking, you will spot elephants and primates like white colobus monkeys. Return to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, go a nature walk at Bigodi Sanctuary which is rich in fauna and flora as well as quenching the birder’s thirst since it offers a variety of bird species such as African pitta, green-breasted pitta, Afep pigeon, white-napped pigeon, crowned eagle, red-chested owlet, black bee-eater, Western nicator, yellow-rumped tinker bird, little greenbul, and brown-chested Alethe among others.
In the afternoon, visit the crater lakes around fort portal to the top of the world later drive back to lodge for dinner. Overnight at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House, full board.
After breakfast, you will prepare to return to Kampala with a stopover at Ingongo Cultural Center for cultural performance and lunch before heading for another stop over at the equator for photo shots. You will proceed to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) for your outbound flight.
Chimpanzee tracking is subject to availability of permits, which are limited to six per Chimpanzee family per half day. Chimpanzee permits cannot be held, secured, or booked with the Uganda Wildlife Authority in advance of payment - they are only secured once physically paid for.
GoExplore Safaris can check availability of permits but cannot hold them. They will invoice for the permits, and as soon as the funds clear in their account, they will go ahead and purchase. Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable.
On the last day of safari, you will have a stopover at Ingongo Cultural Center for a cultural performance.
This safari will take you to explore Kibale, Uganda. Kibale-Fort Portal area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to explore, as it is home to a total of 70 mammal species. It is located in western Uganda with an area of 795 square kilometers. Its major attraction is the opportunity to track habituated chimpanzees. These delightful apes, more closely related to human beings than any other creature on earth, are simply amazing to watch as they squabble and play in the fruit trees.
This park is also home to another 13 primate species, including the localized red colobus and L'Hoest's monkeys. A network of shady forest trails provide much to delight botanists and butterfly lovers; and birders are thrilled with over 350 species of birds, including the endemic Prirogrine's ground thrush.
Forest Elephants move seasonally into the developed part of the park, while other mammals include buffaloes, giant forest hogs as well as a half a dozen antelope species. Chimpanzee tracking is the main activity in Kibale National Park, but guided walks, day and night, are also conducted and are very popular.
Daily meals will be provided for the duration of this tour.
