Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park is a flamingo land. It is home to a huge number of lesser flamingos. At any given time, every flamingo in the world seems to be at this beautiful shallow alkaline lake, just the south of Nakuru town. The lake is a spectacular ocean of pink surrounded by forest and plains that are home to other wildlife too. With a total area size of 368 square kilometers and home to more than 450 different kinds of birds, Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the finest ornithological sights in the world. The lake is world famous as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth.

The lake is located on the edge of the town of Nakuru, lies about 160 kilometers north of Nairobi. This proximity Nairobi means that visitors who do not have so much time can visit the park as a day trip excursion and return to Nairobi on the same day. Visitors on a shoestring budget can also visit the park and return to Nairobi without having to worry about accommodation.

Myriads of pink flamingos whose numbers are often more than a million, maybe two, find solace at the lake. Besides the lesser flamingos and greater flamingo, it is also a marvelous place to other different types of birds. It has various waders that includes Avocet and you can enjoy the sight of Pelicans sweeping the water in unison (a rather attractive pelican version of synchronized swimming).

Besides the birds, Lake Nakuru National Park provides a home for a wide variety of other forms of African wildlife. Conservationists' efforts to save some of the world's endangered species of mammals take place here too. A superb example of conservation at work in the wild, with the assistance of the World Wildlife Fund, is now providing sanctuary for Rothschild giraffe, and black and white rhino.

The elusive leopard can also be found at Lake Nakuru National Park, living in perfect harmony with the largely aquatic landscape. Other wildlife that can be easily observed at the lake includes the buffalo, lion, and black and white colobus monkey in the forest. You will also see steenbok, eland, Chandler's reedbuck, impala, and dik-dik in the bush land.

Maasai Mara

The Maasai Mara National Reserve or the Mara as it's popularly known, boasts for sheltering various wild animals like the lion, cheetah, and other animals that annually migrate from Tanzania to the Masaai Mara including the gazelles, wildebeest, zebras, and many more. During the game drive, you will see the big 5, which is something most tourists coming to Kenya hope to see.

While you are at the Maasai Mara, you will be able to enjoy various activities like game viewing (both day and night), camping, learn about various cultures around there (specifically the Maasai people), ballooning, and many more. Game viewing can be done all year round with the availability of animals including the big 5, giraffe, hyena, together with all the cat family.

The famous wildebeest migration that happens from July to November is a site to behold. Over 2 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move from Tanzania to the Maasai Mara and the cycle continues like that. As they migrate, they have to cross the rivers which expose them to dangers, such as the crocodiles and drowning. Only the strong are able to make it through to the other side. This is something you'll definitely don't want to miss while you are in the Mara.

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha National Park is located in Nakuru County in the Great Rift Valley, North-West of Nairobi. The park is composed of a fresh water lake with a surface area of 139 square kilometers. The lake is surrounded by green vegetation, forming a habitat for over 400 bird species. The quiet scenery of the park favors the existence of plenty of arrays of wildlife animals, from buffaloes, hippopotamus, klipspringer, giraffe, baboons, hartebeest, eland, Thompson's gazelle, and sometimes leopard and cheetah.

The park is surrounded by other parks and reserves including Hell's Gate National Park, the Green Crater Lake Reserve, and Kingono Game Ranch. The park has attracted many camps, resort, and country club hotels to provide the tourist the best accommodation experience and adventure. Once in the park, there are plenty of activities for you including hiking, fishing, game riding, boat riding, bird watching, and camping.

"I did a half day safari trip with Go Kenya to Nairobi National Park. As I was the only person, I had a private tour with my driver Lenny (who is awesome!). The experience was great from the beginning. Go Kenya employee replied to my email and questions kindly and efficiently. The communication was smooth and hassel-free. My guide Lenny was really wonderful. He is very knowledgeable and taught me many interesting facts about the behaviour and physical appearances of the animals. He is also an expert in finding the animals, we got to see 99% of the animals in the park. :) He picked me up from the friend's house where I was staying and dropped me off at my desired location. The only small miss communication we had was concerning the currency. I wanted to pay the fee to Go Kenya in Euro and was told that I have to pay the entry fee in KES. Therefore, I prepared exactly the amount. However, I was not informed that I also had to pay the driver's entry fee first in KES, which would be deducted from the fee to Go Kenya. As the driver did not carry any cash to give me change, I almost could not make the exact amount to pay. It would be great to be informed about this so that I can better manage my currencies and the amount of cash to bring. Nevertheless, it was a great experience, I would recommend Go Kenya and Lenny to anyone."

"Booked a 3 day/2night Private Safari Tour with Go Kenya Tours over the internet. No issues with communication and we were picked up at our hotel in Nairobi as planned. Spent that evening and next day seeing touring around Masai Mara National Park, and was surprised we got to see all the more elusive animals (Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards) in the short time we were there. Accomodation was simple but good. Our guide was very intent on making sure we got to see all the different animals. Would highly recommend booking with Go Kenya for your Safari!"

"We traveled as a family, did not know what to expect, but from beginning to end it was an adventure. Patrick, our guide, was really informative and pointed out lots of things we may have missed. We opted for a Jeep, it was really comfortable. The lodges on the safaris were really good, we loved Sweetwaters Lodge. The animals would come to the drinking pond and it was literally a few meters away. Whilst enjoying dinner, we could see the wild life and even an elephant visited the watering hole. The Mara is just beautiful, lots of different wildlife to see and so much of it. The whole experience was great. Thank you Go Kenya Safari and Patrick."

"Had the most amazing safari experience with Go Kenya Safari. Lenny, our tour guide, was promptly waiting for us at the airport at our arranged time. He went above and beyond to ensure that our safari experience was a memorable one. We will certainly use this company again if we return to Kenya / Tanzania, and can not recommend them highly enough."

"I cannot say enough how thankful I am to Robert and his team for the most beautiful vacation I had in Kenya. The tour was nicely composed in a way I could see all animals of Kenya. I saw all big cats very close. I really loved the lodges and tent camps where I was staying. It was way above my expectations. The real gem of the company is Tony. He is a brilliant guide, careful driver, and a very good person. He never forgot any of my requests or wishes, was always there helping me but giving me enough personal space. I am glad I chose Go Kenya Safari and can highly recommend it for the trip to Africa."
