This safari is located in the south-east corner of the island of Sri Lanka. This part of Sri Lanka is considered to be the dry zone of the island and is home to four different national parks bordering the Indian Ocean to the south and high central mountains to the north.

These national parks are home to all of the large iconic wildlife species of the country including such super star species like the Sri Lankan elephant, sloth bear, buffalo's, crocodiles, and the legendary Sri Lankan leopard. Sri Lankan leopard is the physically largest leopard subspecies in the world with a body build to rival African lions.

The Yala and Lunugamvehera National Park are the best locations in the world to spot leopards in the wild. The heavily forested Yala National Park is almost a magical place bordering the Indian Ocean. The nearby Bundala National park is home to elephants, monkeys and crocodiles and is world’s second Ramsar Site (world convention on wetlands) and is visited by 200 species of migratory birds and is home to over 100 species of native ones.

Your hotel sits by a lake side in a rural village setting bordering a wildlife park. The site itself is visited by over 250 different species of birds annually.
