Miti Mingi Eco Camp is situated within the Masai Mara eco-system and on the banks of Ololaimutia River which is a watering point for most of the wild animals, especially elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, etc. This small and exclusive campsite comprises 25 tents.
The tents are furnished with all the amenities required by the modern traveler. Decorated in calming safari tones, natural woods, wrought iron, and crisp cotton, each tent has been meticulously planned to maximize comfort. All tents have four-poster beds and mosquito nets, en-suite with shower, WC, and flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and electricity with a voltage of 240 volts.
Program
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
The driver will pick you up from the airport, hotel, or place of residence in the morning. After a short briefing about the safari, depart for Masai Mara with stopovers on the way to have spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley. Lunch will be served at the hotel in Masai Mara.
At 16:00, proceed for an afternoon game in the reserve before returning to the lodge for dinner. Dinner and overnight at the reserved lodge or camp.
Day 2: Morning and afternoon game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve
On this day you will have a morning game drive where you will drive across the plains in search of the big five and other wild animals before returning to the lodge for breakfast. The remainder of the morning is spent enjoying the lodge or camp facilities.
After lunch proceed for an afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner. Dinner and overnight at the reserved lodge or camp.
Day 3: Depart Masai Mara for Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and depart to the cultural Masai village to learn their traditional forms of life. Upon arrival, you’ll take in the muted greys and browns of the Bomas, while the bright reds, blues, and purples worn by the villagers show off in stark relief. Their livestock are never far off – you’ll see them in the small corrals made of sharpened poles and branches to fend off predators.
While here you may have an opportunity to visit inside one of the Bomas, usually constructed by the women from small poles and smaller branches, then covered with a cement of mud, grass, dung, urine, and ash.
Although you’ll have to stoop to fit inside the 1.5 m (less than 5 feet) high structure, the family eats, sleeps, and carries on all activities in this modest home. It’s the men’s responsibility to build the corrals and the protective fencing around the village to ward off the big cats and any other predators that are attracted to the livestock.
Later drive back to Nairobi, on arrival drop off at the airport to catch your flight back home or the hotel of your choice.
