Nights 1-2: Ngalawa Campsite

The camp is located directly by the main gate, Mtemere Airstrip, and the game reserve border. Rufiji River is within walking distance, with its wonderful African wildlife and spectacular scenery. The nearby Rufiji River has many affluents, which make this area a great attraction for the animals that come for food and water. This makes animal viewing an easy and pleasurable experience.

The camp guarantees first class amenities, facilities, and service. It has 23 rooms and traditional huts, which are spacious, with comfortable beds and ceiling fans, each with its own bathroom with toilet, hot water, and shower. All rooms are equipped with hot water forest showers, European toilets and bathrooms, ceiling fans, and charging points for mobile phones and cameras.

There is a restaurant on-site, which offers a full board service and all meals are freshly made from local ingredients by their excellent staff. In the middle of the camp, there is a special lake close to the restaurant that attracts plenty of elephants, monkeys, leopards, and other animals for a drink and a rest. There is also a swimming pool available.

Nights 3-4: Morio Motel

Morio Motel is one of Morogoro’s and indeed Tanzania’s superior tourist hotels, offering 30 bedrooms and three suites. The hotel is conveniently located along the Morogoro - Iringa Highway, only two kilometers west from Mikumi National Park.

Day 1: Dar es Salaam - Selous Game Reserve

In the morning, at 6 a.m., you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam to drive towards Selous Game Reserve. You will have picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about six hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania.

Lunch shall be served at 2 p.m. After lunch, you shall enjoy an afternoon game drive in the reserve and get to see some fabulous game including elephants, wild dogs, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and fantastic prides of lions. You shall enjoy the park to the fullest until late in the evening when you shall have dinner at 7:30 p.m. Then, overnight at Ngalawa Camp.

Day 2: Selous game drive and boat trip

On this day, you will explore Selous on a morning game drive, around 7 a.m. You will look for leopards, lions, wild dogs, hyenas, buffaloes, wildebeest, elands, hartebeest, crocodiles, lizards, and other residents. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this reserve.

The network of rough roads is reliably rewarding, especially during the dry season around the lakes. In the afternoon, you will be back at the camp for lunch before a boat trip.

In the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., embark on a boat safari during which you'll admire hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Selous Game Reserve is home to a high diversity of both large mammals and bird species, and the world's largest population of African hunting dogs exists in the reserve. Dinner and overnight will be at Ngalawa Camp.

Day 3: Selous - Mikumi

You will enjoy an early morning breakfast and game drive en-route to Mikumi National Park. You will pass Morogoro, over the Uluguru Mountains, across rivers and past small local villages and farms. You will have a Maasai village tour. Dinner and overnight will be at Morio Motel.

Day 4: Full-day game drive

In the morning, after breakfast, leave for a full-day game drive. Animals commonly found here include lions, elands, hartebeest, buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, and elephants. Wild dogs can be seen in packs here. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centerpiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Dinner and overnight will be at Morio Motel.

Day 5: Mikumi - Dar es Salaam

In the morning, after breakfast, you will walk to Mikumi Genesis Snake Park and take a two-hour morning zoo tour. Later, you will enjoy an en-route game drive with slow driving so that you can take pictures. Then, you will drive to Dar es Salaam, where you will arrive in the late evening and be dropped off at the curio shop or airport, depending on your decision.

Note: Special French, Italian, and Spanish speaking guides can be hired upon request.



During the tour, you will be provided with all meals, as well as one liter of bottled water per day per person in the safari vehicle.
