Tanzania Safari and Yoga

You’ll have a great time visiting some of the best migration locations this summer—especially if you’re heading to Tanzania to see the wildebeest move from the Serengeti plains to the Maasai Mara game reserve in Kenya, one of the world’s most spectacular natural phenomena. Each year, nearly two million wildebeest and their accompanying large numbers of zebra, Grant’s gazelle, Thompson’s gazelle, eland, and impala trek from the Serengeti to the Maasai Mara and back again in search of fresh grazing. Watching these herds on the move is always an unforgettable experience.

Day 0-1: Arrival and evening yoga in the Kilimanjaro area

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Rivertrees Country Inn before embarking on a safari the next day. Once an old coffee estate, Rivertrees is now a charming country inn nestled amidst lush greenery with the Usa River flowing by. Breakfasts are an unforgettable experience here. Those who arrive first thing in the morning will experience this. For those of you arriving by late morning, the company representative shall pick you up from Kilimanjaro airport at midday and take you to join the rest of the group before the safari orientation, immediately after officially welcoming you to Africa (Tanzania), before transferring you to your lodge in the Moshi area. After lunch, you shall proceed to the Kilimanjaro mountain trekking starting point, where you shall embark on a relaxing evening of yoga before returning to your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Serengeti + yoga

Wake up early, proceed for breakfast, check out, and drive to the Serengeti area. You check into your lodge before embarking on a drive to the lush Serengeti Balloon Safari experience, where you get to encounter the Serengeti wildlife from the air in the afternoon. Embark on this exciting experience. You shall later prepare for the early evening yoga as you encounter the sundowner before returning to your lodge for dinner, relaxation, and overnight.

Day 3: Whole day in Serengeti + sundowner yoga

Today, enjoy game drives in the Serengeti, which is internationally renowned for its incredible wildlife and home to herds of wildebeest and other grazing animals. The Serengeti supports a magnificent diversity and abundance of animals, from the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino) to giraffe, impala, kongoni, topi, and eland.

Its unique combination of diverse habitats enables it to support more than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. Its landscape, originally formed by volcanic activity, has been sculpted by the concerted action of wind, rain, and sun. It now varies from open grass plains in the south, savannah with scattered acacia trees in the center, and hilly wooded grassland in the north, to extensive woodlands and black clay plains to the west. Small rivers, lakes, and swamps are scattered throughout. It is best known for its large predators, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, serval cats, wild dogs, jackals, and spotted hyenas.

You’ll have a bush lunch while you continue your wonderful game drives, and you can return to your lodge for sunset yoga, dinner, and overnight.

As the sun sets, find room on your mat. Tonight’s therapeutic moves will allow you to delve inward and become acquainted with your body as you link your breath and have a deeper connection with nature.

Day 4: Yoga + drive to Arusha for a flight to Zanzibar

Today, you will wake up early in the morning, embark on a morning yoga session, have an early morning breakfast, and join your guide for a short Serengeti game drive before embarking on a drive to Arusha, where you will later proceed for a flight to Zanzibar after a short Arusha city drive. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, check in at your posh lodge and prepare for sunset yoga before dinner and overnight.

Day 5-7: Zanzibar yoga and adventure retreat

It’s going to be fun-filled. You will have five full days to enjoy this island paradise. You will stay in the south, near the village of Jambiani. During your stay in Zanzibar, you are exposed to a lifetime experience carefully designed to take you away from your routine and into your dream holiday. Your days in Zanzibar will be packed with love for your body, mind, and soul. Several relaxation options are available. On day 7, you shall enjoy a full 60-minute full-body massage and body scrub, fully inclusive of the cost.

Day 8: Flight back home from Zanzibar

Every good thing must come to an end. On the same note, they are sad to see you go, but, they are sure you had the very best retreat you expected. But, wait, you still have your last yoga before you leave for a departure drive to the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your flight back home.
