Program

This five-day Tanzania group sharing safari includes visits to the Serengeti National Park for the massive migration of wildebeest and zebras, as well as a healthy population of big cats. On the other hand, Lake Manyara National Park is for birdwatching and spotting rare tree-climbing lions, and other attractions.

This Tanzania safari trip will be a pure camping adventure in the Central Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservancy region. Join Focus in Africa for a stunning Tanzania safari experience with this finest budget-friendly tour.

Day 1: Tarangire National Park

You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). After breakfast, you will leave Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for a morning game drive.

The park runs along the road of the Tarangire River and is especially made from low-lying hills on the good valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas within the south.

The river and therefore also the swamps sort of act a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania’s season. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain a number of the most important elephant herds in Africa. This African park is additionally home to three rare species of animals: the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, and also a couple of ashy starlings.

In the evening time, you will drive back to the camp for dinner and overnight stay at Panorama Campsite.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park

Have an early morning breakfast at around 07:00. After breakfast, you will leave the camp with a packed lunch and proceed to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Crater Rim, viewing game en route. Serengeti National Park is a vast, treeless plain with thousands, even millions, of animals searching for fresh grasslands.

As the largest national park in Tanzania, the Serengeti attracts thousands of tourists each year. The best months for wildlife viewing are between December and June. The wet season is from March to May, with the coldest period from June to October. The annual migration of millions of zebra and wildebeest takes place in May or early June.

This migration is one of the most impressive natural events and the primary draw for many tourists.

The group will pitch tents and have dinner at Serengeti Seronera Campsite.

  • Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 3: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro

Have an early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park and later on, return to the lodge for breakfast. You will leave the camp with a packed lunch and drive, game viewing en route to Ngorongoro Crater Rim.

Located between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Conservation Area is home to the famous volcanic Ngorongoro Crater and is one of Tanzania’s most popular wildlife viewing areas. This huge volcanic crater has a permanent supply of water, which draws all kinds of animals that stay in this area rather than migrate.

Visitors go there primarily for viewing large game and birdwatching, but also for interest in the conservation area, the Olduvai Gorge. This important archeological site has revealed ancient skull and bone fragments that have delivered critical information about early mankind.

The group will pitch tents and have dinner at Ngorongoro Simba A Campsite.

  • Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

Have an early morning breakfast, then descend to the crater floor with a picnic lunch for the game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact ancient caldera in the world, nearly three million years old. The Ngorongoro volcano was one of the world’s tallest mountains before it exploded and collapsed.

Thousands of wild game can be seen on the crater floor, including lions, elephants, rhinos, Thomson’s gazelles, and buffaloes, but wildebeests and zebras account for over half of the animals that call the Ngorongoro Crater home.

Birdwatching there is superb, especially around Lake Migadi, which attracts flocks of flamingoes to the shallows. Hippos are content to submerge themselves during the day and then graze in the nearby grass in the evening.

After exploring the crater, you will have lunch at the picnic site in the crater at Ngoitoktok Swamp, a hippo pool. Thereafter, you will continue with game viewing while ascending the crater, and then drive back to Panorama Campsite.

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, offers magnificent and varied landscapes. In the gorgeous park, you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. The ecosystem is supported by a variety of habitats, including rainforests, the Soda Lake, and the savannah.

The reserve is a birdwatcher’s paradise, with over 400 kinds of birds, some of which are migratory. The famed tree-climbing lions, as well as buffalo, elephants, giraffe, impalas, and hippos, may also be seen at Lake Manyara. In the late afternoon, you’ll go back to Arusha.
