Accommodation

During this safari holiday in Kenya and Tanzania, you will be staying in mid-range tented camps and lodges.

Program

Day 1:Nairobi or NBO to Amboseli national park

Upon arrival at Nairobi Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Arusha, a representative and your professional driver guide will be waiting for you at the airport arrivals area with a sign bearing your name. They will then transport you in a well-maintained 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser safari vehicle to Sentrim Amboseli Lodge. Due to the length of your journey, you will have time to relax at the lodge with no activities planned. However, if you wish to start a game drive on this day, it can be arranged.

  • Accommodations: Sentrim Amboseli Lodge, mid-range tented camp located just outside Amboseli NP (Kenya)
  • Meals: Full board

Day 2: Amboseli National Park full day game drive

It would be best to wake up early to get a good view of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds start covering the summit. Afterward, you will have an early morning game drive and return to the lodge for a late breakfast. You will have some free time mid-morning, followed by lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will go for another game drive to spot wild animals. %Additionally, you have the option to visit a Masai village (for an additional cost) to learn more about their culture and way of life. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and spend the night there.

  • Accommodations: Sentrim Amboseli Lodge, mid-range tented camp located just outside Amboseli NP (Kenya)
  • Meals: Full board

Day 3: Amboseli National Park to Arusha City

After breakfast, you will have a half-day game drive outside the park. Depending on the road condition, your hosts will take you to the Tarakea or Namanga border. If it is raining heavily and the Amboseli - Namanga road might be impassable, they will use the Tarakea border. Upon arrival in Arusha, you will spend the rest of the day at Africa Safari Arusha, ready to explore more of Tanzania's wildlife the next day.

  • Accommodations: Africa Safari Arusha (Standard Room), mid-range lodge in Arusha (Tanzania)
  • Meals: Full board

Day 4: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your hosts will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am and then drive to Tarangire National Park for game viewing. The park runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south.

Tarangire National Park is an excellent base camp for a safari in Tanzania. During Tanzania’s dry season, the river and swamps act like magnets for wild animals. Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. Later, proceed for dinner and overnight at Africa Safari Lake Manyara.

  • Accommodations: Africa Safari Lake Manyara (Tanzania)
  • Meals: Full board

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Game Safari

On this day, you will begin early in the morning with a picnic lunch in hand. You will descend 600 meters (2,000ft) to the crater floor using the 4x4 vehicle for a 5-6 hour game viewing drive. Get ready to explore this Garden of Eden! Ngorongoro is a vast and deep volcanic crater with rich pasture, swamps, forest, and permanent water, which supports diverse and numerous wildlife. In the late afternoon, you will ascend the crater for an overnight stay at Ngorongoro Safari Lodge.

  • Accommodations: Ngorongoro Safari Lodge (Tanzania)

Day 6: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart from Rhino Lodge and drive to Serengeti across the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will arrive on the great Serengeti plains for a different, but just as spectacular, wildlife viewing experience. You will then have one of the world’s most incredible adventure safaris! You will reach Naabi Gate around 2:30 pm.

After the game drive, you will continue over the scrublands and have a 4-hour late evening game drive in Serengeti National Park. Overnight and dinner will be at Kati Kati Tented Lodge.

  • Accommodation: Kati Kati Tented Lodge (Tanzania)

Day 7: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will enjoy a game viewing experience in Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti, Tanzania’s largest national park, covers nearly 15,500 km² (6,000 mi²) of grassland plains, savannah, kopjes, hills, woodlands, and riverine forest systems. These areas serve as critical water sources and are excellent sites for wildlife viewing.

Apart from the famous migration of wildebeest and zebra, the Serengeti is renowned for its big predators, including cheetahs and leopards, as well as large prides of lions and clans of hyenas. You will also have the opportunity to see the Big Five. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Mara Kati Kati Tented Lodge.

  • Accommodation: Kati Kati Tented Lodge (Tanzania)
  • Meals: Full board

Day 8: Serengeti to Arusha or Zanzibar or Masai Mara or Nairobi

After breakfast, your hosts will drive you to Arusha to join your scheduled shuttle bus to Arusha or drop you off at the airport. They also have two additional options for extra activities or tour extensions at an extra cost.

  • Option 1: Add an additional tour day 8 from Serengeti to Masai Mara National Reserve with an overnight stay in Masai Mara. On day 10, enjoy a full-day game drive in the massive national reserve with an overnight stay. You can add other destinations in Kenya before a final drop off in Nairobi. They can tailor - make or customize the program as you want.
  • Option 2: Add a Zanzibar beach holiday, where you can fly from Serengeti National Park to Zanzibar directly or from Arusha to Zanzibar. They will arrange a Zanzibar tour for you as per your preferences.

Note: Fig Tree Tours and Travel uses a 4-WD Land Cruiser with viewing roofs for the safaris that can accommodate 4 or 6 or 7 passengers. Their guides are licensed, trained, friendly, and have years of experience.
