Estancia Buena Vista opens their ranch for all equestrian and nature enthusiasts during this horse riding holiday in Argentina. Ride on horseback along the extense paddocks of the 4,000 hectares allows the rider to enjoy a spectacular sunset, to cross lagoons at full gallop, or trot along the sandy beaches of the river and its banks. The horse riding programs are quite varied and always contemplate the riders previous experience with horses. You will also be able to share and enjoy the different tasks of the gauchos and become one of them. Come and live a simple country lifestyle!

If you wish to visit a functional traditional and authentic cattle estancia, you are invited to Estancia Buena Vista, where they combine the wildlife attractions, the farm life customs and the breeding of cattle, with the comforts of modern life. Surrounded by 4,000 hectares of natural subtropical environment, Buena Vista offers an extraordinary combination of nature and comfort which from the very first moment awakens in guests a wonderful sensation of belonging. The colonial main house, from the ends of the XIX century on 16 hectares of park, offers an excellent level of accommodation for guests in seven comfortable suites.

Programa

Day 1: Introduction to Buena Vista

  • You will be welcomed at the Esquina Bus terminus and taken to to the Estancia Buena Vista.
  • Country breakfast. You can take an optional nap after breakfast.
  • Walk around Buena Vista’s grounds. One can find up to 40 different species of birds, take a look at orchard and kitchen garden, have a general idea of the farm and how it is organized. You will also be taken to the different ‘corrales’ where ‘gauchos’ work with the cattle.
  • Lunch at the Estancia
  • Basic introduction to riding. There is special clothing available for riders. The riders have a choice of various kinds of saddles. A brief ride in the round corral. A short one-hour-long ride along the palm tree path so as to get used to the riding requirements of the area and the chosen tack.
  • Tea, free time and dinner

Day 2: Ride towards the east - an encounter with an authentic Estancia under production (22 kilometers)

  • Head for your first destination, the goat paddock, going through the Molina Cue forest, where you will be able to see cattle and buffalos. The trail, bordered with beautiful old eucalyptus trees will take you through this wonderful old estancia. One arrives at the paddocks and can view the herd.
  • Continue towards the cattle bathing facilities where you will be able to look at them, and close to a 150-year-old estancia one continues the ride up to a pig farm where you will be able to observe how an open pig farming is carried out.
  • Lunch is served by an immense lagoon called the ‘Pucu’ (the Guaraní word for "long") where you will be able to sight several bird species.
  • After a short siesta (nap), the ride continues along the coast of the lagoon, then passes through the Santa Rosa Paddock that will take you to the Hype Lagoon ("hype" is the Guaraní word for "deep").
  • Carry on until you reach the Capybara Lagoon. After a long gallop, one arrives at the sheep paddock that is on the way back to Buena Vista’s main house.
  • Tea, free time, dinner

Day 3: Ride with the Gauchos

  • Country breakfast
  • Early in the morning, going out to a forest of native trees to gather a group of cows and drive them to the estancia yard.
  • Lunch at the estancia
  • Test and demonstration of the use of the lasso
  • In the afternoon, labor in the estancia yard. (vaccination, sanitary bathing, branding cattle, etc.)
  • After finishing the labor at the yard, cows are taken to their place (one hour and thirty minutes).

Day 4: Ride towards the south - The Pucu Marsh (20 kilometers)

  • Country breakfast
  • Setting out heading south of the main house riding through the countryside so as to get to the Pucú Marsh.
  • Lunch, usually either lamb roasted on a stake or farm stew, is served by the marshland.
  • At this point, you board a canoe with a guide to see the authentic fauna and flora of Corrientes province. The idea is to use a Botador so as not to make any noise and be able to appreciate the remarkable entourage and sounds of this unique place. There, you may see American alligators, capybaras and sight the around 200 species of birds (herons, ducks, caracaras, crested screamers, moorhens, etc.). The flora includes lilies, rushes, esparto grass, etc.
  • The return to the main house is done along the cattle track that passes through the lagoons.
  • Tea, free time, dinner

Day 5: Ride with the Gauchos

  • Country breakfast
  • Early in the morning, labor in the estancia yard (vaccination, sanitary bathing, branding cattle, etc.).
  • Lunch at the estancia.
  • In the afternoon, labor in the estancia yard (vaccination, sanitary bathing, branding cattle, etc.).
  • After finishing the labor at the yard, cows are taken to their place (one hour and thirty minutes).

Day 6: Ride towards the north - the Corrientes River (22 kilometers)

  • Country breakfast
  • On the way towards the river, you will go through an old cemetery that dates back to 1850. You will continue through the forest and arrive at a rural school. In order to reach the river by the cultivated farmland path, you pass by the provincial route.
  • On arrival to where lunch will be served, you will be taking a walk along the beaches and the slopes where one can do bird sighting and enjoy the beautiful scenery and vegetation.
  • Lunch is either roasted lamb on the spit or farm stew.
  • After lunch, you can have a nap.
  • Return by going through a natural forest and through the rice fields where the buffaloes graze
  • Tea, free time, dinner

  • Continue north along the asphalt road for 26 kilometers to the gravel road crossing (signpost indicates “Malvina”). Turn right and travel a further 18 kilometers towards Malvina.
  • At the Estancia Buena Vista entrance, drive another 5 kilometers to the main house.

Arrival by bus

Daily departures from Retiro (Central Bus Terminal) as from 8:00 p.m., arriving in Esquina at 4:30 a.m. Luxury sleeper coaches takes eight hours. Estancia Buena Vista will pick you up personally at the Esquina Bus Station.
