You will be accommodated in double rooms during the tour. The nights are spent in hotels or hostels on the Galapagos Islands rather than on a yacht, perfect for those who suffer from seasickness. The hotels are located on the islands of San Cristobal, Santa Cruz, and Isabela. Passengers can select the class of hotel they prefer. Standard hotels are comfortable but basic hostels or tourist-class hotels are also available, all with private bath, hot water, and some with air conditioning. For an extra cost, the hotels can be upgraded for those wanting a bit more comfort or luxury.

Day 1: San Cristobal

Today is your arrival at San Cristóbal Airport (SCY) around noon. After lunch, you depart for a hike to the Loberia, a mangrove beach where you can observe sea lions, marine iguanas, tropical birds, and swallow-tailed gulls. You will hike to the cliff and back to the beach for some snorkeling. Marine turtles and sea lions are common here. Dinner will be at the home of a local fisherman. Today, you can join a kayak trip from Playa Mann to Darwin Bay (additional 25 USD per person).

  • Meals: lunch and dinner

Day 2: San Cristobal: Highlands

Your first stop will be the Junco Lagoon where you can usually spot frigatebirds washing the salt from their wings. Then, you visit the Galapaguera tortoise reserve where you can see giant tortoises. You will hike to Puerto Chino, a white sand beach where you will relax and swim before returning to the port. Or, instead of Puerto Chino, you can also hike (moderate difficulty) through a giant cactus forest at the "Opuntia Garden" until you arrive at "Veinte Varas" beach.

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 3: Underwater Galapagos

You depart in the morning for a boat tour to Isla Lobos and Kicker Rock, where you will snorkel looking for sea lions, marine iguanas, and a variety of tropical fish species. Rays and sharks can often be seen around Kicker Rock. You then proceed to a beautiful beach, having lunch on board your boat, with time to relax and swim around the beach. You will return to the town at around 15:00. After a little rest, you will have an easy hike to the Frigatebird Hill where you will see the Darwin statue. This is the first place he anchored when arriving in the islands. Your last stop will be Carola Beach.

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 4: Isabela

You take an early flight to Isabela Island (approximately 40 minutes). You will visit the wetlands area, a RAMSAR-classified site with plenty of biodiversity including shorebirds, marine iguanas, and marine turtles. You then visit Tintoreras, an islet off of Isabela (about a 10-minute boat ride) where Galapagos penguins, marine iguanas, and sharks resting in channels formed by lava can be observed. You will then go snorkeling in the bay.

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 5: Isabela - Sierra Negra Volcano

After breakfast, you travel to the highlands above Puerto Villamil and begin a 16-kilometer hike, first arriving at the Sierra Negra volcano with its impressive crater, then proceeding to Volcan Chico with its amazing lava landscapes. You will have lunch at a local finca after the hike, then return to Puerto Villamil at around 15:00. You can have free time in the afternoon. You can also trek (more difficult) to the sulfur mines with box lunch instead of Sierra Negra.

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 6: Santa Cruz

You will depart early in the morning on the speedboat to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. Upon arrival, you will travel to the highlands of Santa Cruz where you can see the giant tortoises in the wild, a lava tunnel, and the twin craters. After lunch, you then hike to Tortuga Bay beach where iguanas, shorebirds, and blue-footed boobies are present. The optional activity for today is kayaking (25 USD per person).

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 7: Day tour to Floreana

Today, you take a day tour to Floreana Island, where you snorkel at Daylight or Loberia and visit the Asilo de la Paz highlands, with giant tortoises and pirates' caves. You can also take a boat trip to an uninhabited island such as Plazas, Seymour, or Bartolomé instead of Floreana (additional 61 USD per person).

  • Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 8: Baltra

Departure for Seymour Airport (GPS) is in the morning. Before your airport departure, you have some free time in Puerto Ayora for shopping or a visit to the Charles Darwin Station (free entrance).

  • Meals: breakfast

Included excursions

  • Hiking to the Frigatebird Hill to see the Darwin statue
  • Hiking to the Sierra Negra and Volcan Chico

This tour will take place around the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. The Galapagos Islands consist of 13 main islands, three smaller islands, and numerous islets and rock formations. Located about 1,000 kilometers off the coast of Ecuador, the islands have a total land area of about 7,880 square kilometers, with Isabella, the largest of the islands, making up about half of the total land area of the Galapagos. The islands are scattered in an area of ocean spanning about 45,000 square kilometers. The highest point on the islands is Volcan Wolf on Isabella Island at 1,707 meters.

Few of the islands are inhabited. The largest human settlement is in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Baltra has a military base and civilian airport, San Cristobal includes the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno which is the capital of the province, and Isabella’s southern tip holds the third largest settlement on the islands, Puerto Villamil. Few of the islands have a reliable source of fresh water, making human settlements and life for land mammals difficult.
