Elephant Valley Lodge has 12 ‘forest tents’ in the shady canopy of trees surrounding the swimming pool. One of these ‘forest tents’ is a family tent which includes a second bedroom with twin beds and a large bathroom with bath and shower. A further 8 ‘valley tents’ have views overlooking the valley and waterhole. All accommodation tents are spacious and comfortable with twin three-quarter beds which can be pushed together with a converter to make a double bed.

They all have en-suite shower, toilet and basins, plus tea and coffee making facilities, fan, electric blankets (in winter), hair dryer, and charging points. Each tent has a veranda with seating so that you can relax outside your room and enjoy the views and amazing bird-life.

There are two pools at Elephant Valley Lodge. One is a rim-flow pool overlooking the valley. This is the perfect spot to take a refreshing dip with a drink from the bar. You may find this pool is already being visited by a Chobe elephant who is also taking an evening drink. Meanwhile, another pool is in the lush forest area of the lodge providing a bigger area to swim and relax under the shade of mahogany trees.

Safari boat cruises

Boat safaris along the Chobe River are a wonderful way to experience close encounters with an abundance of riverine birds and animals. The game viewing while cruising the Chobe River is epic. You can enjoy watching elephants playing in the river or going for a swim. Hippos can be viewed wallowing in the shallow waters or munching grass on the lush islands.

Giraffes and antelopes make their way to the water edge and sightings of predators along the river bank are common. A Chobe safari cruise is perfect for photography. Elephant Valley Lodge's small boat acts as a mobile hide that allows you to get close to the animals without disturbing them. This has enabled wildlife photographers to capture countless stunning images.

Safari game drives

Game drives offer opportunities to see and photograph the stunning range and concentration of wildlife that the Chobe National Park is famous for. As you drive along the river bank looking for fresh tracks, Elephant Valley Lodge's experienced guides are able to interpret the bush signs and track the animals that left them. Being the first observers at a special sighting is very exciting.

The thrill of finding spoor and tracking game must be experienced to be appreciated. Impalas are everywhere and giraffes are commonly encountered. Elephants and herds of buffalo abound. Game viewing is a perfect way to spend your time in the peace and tranquillity of the late afternoon. You can enjoy a cacophony of night sounds including the eerie hyenas, jackals barking, and sometimes lion roaring in the valley as you drift off to sleep after an exhilarating day of game viewing at Elephant Valley Lodge.

Note: Your safari cruises and game drives will be held along the Chobe River in Chobe National Park.

Elephant Valley Lodge lies at Kasane Forest Reserve between the Chobe National Park in Botswana and the famous National Parks of Zimbabwe. It is a 20-minute drive through the forest reserve from Kasane Airport (BBK) to the Lodge and a 30-minute drive through Kazungula to Kasane Town. It is just 5 kilometers from the Kazungula border posts where Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia meet at a point in the middle of the great Zambezi River.

The animals and birds move freely in the valley between the game-rich conservation areas of the neighbouring Chobe Game Reserve and the National Parks of Zimbabwe. From the comfort and tranquillity of the lodge, you can watch creatures great and small, dropping by for a thirst-quenching drink at the lodge’s waterhole.

Freshly prepared meals are served in several locations and all of which overlook the waterhole which attracts an abundance of animals throughout the day and night. Breakfast is served at different times of the morning depending on the time of your morning activity. Lunch is buffet style and usually includes a variety of tempting salad dishes, choice of meats, and homemade bread. The lunch is also often served on the outside of the dining deck.

The ‘boma’ is a favourite location for evening meals with a welcoming campfire and close up views of a game by the waterhole made visible in the floodlight. Starters and desserts are plated and main courses may be plated or buffet-style on ‘braai’ nights. All meals are freshly prepared by Elephant Valley Lodge's cooks. "Before I went on this holiday I was nervous about being in a tent. On arriving at this camp my fears disappeared. The 'tent' was luxurious for canvas. You are protected from the animals visiting the waterhole by an electric fence. So all the loud roaring , snorting and howling comes from the other side of the fence. The environs of the lodge are very nice and when not on safari its great just to sit and watch the waterhole. One evening over 50 elephants visited the waterhole. If you stay here you will have a wonderful time. The guides are incredible."

"We cannot speak more highly of this wonderful lodge in beautiful Chobe run by Paula and Greg, and supported by excellent guides and all other staff. 10 out of 10 for everyone!"

"We found the location to be perfect, the public areas delightful and fell in love with our first experience of luxury 'tent' accommodation. We asked for recipes of the delicious salads and mains served so that we might impress our American and Australian friends! Having the accommodation bill cover everything was a bonus - food, drinks, safari drives."

"While a holiday in an exotic location like Chobe is one level of experience, what can be equally as important is the sharing of ideas, culture, cuisine and travel experiences from one continent to another as we did with the management staff at EVL. Our American friends, as a result of our stay, are pestering us already about a return trip for us and a first visit for them. Thank you Paula and Greg. We'll see you again"

"Elephant Valley Lodge - a fantastic hidden jem among the elephants. The valley is laid out right before your eyes and a wonderful place to sit and watch the wildlife pass directly by during your meals. The staff were absolutely amazing - everyone! From Kristine, Florin, Paula and Greg to KB, our guide and driver/spotter/boat captain extraodinaire, and all the staff - there was NOTHING I needed or had to ask for before it magically appeared in front of me. The tent was extremely clean, and if you didn't have something (bug spray, toiletries, a fan - really anything!) all you had to do was ask and it would miraculously appear when you returned from your game drive. Such hospitality and generosity were so very much appreciated by this single traveler, and will not soon be forgotten. A new and wonderful family I hope to come back and visit soon. (if they'll have me! ha ha)"

"We loved Elephant Valley Lodge. Both the spacious rooms and public areas were comfortable and charming, and our manger hosts were delightful, hospitable and personable. And the animals in Chobe Park were just astonishing - the abundance and variety were beyond our expectations, and the wide vistas gloriously beautiful. Our guide KB was excellent - when he learned a lion had been seen in the park recently, even though he was told it had been chased away by a buffalo he continued to search until he found it for us! (Only downside is the drive - ca 20 min?- to the park)"

"We stayed 3 nights on an OATS tour. It was a great experience. We had 2 game drives to Chobe National Park or river cruises each day when we were there. Simon and "TT" were great guides. They sat with us at dinner and added to our appreciation. We took some wonderful pictures and had lots of social time in the common area of the lodge. The food was in a buffet style which was good. We were provided with unlimited water to refill bottles. Everyone made our stay enjoyable. If you wanted something, the staffs did or solved it soon. I would definitely go again. The internet cooperated while we were there. I had no problem at all with Apple devices. I saw elephants, kudus, waterbucks, and impalas at the water hole."

"I just got back from our African holiday. I stayed for 7 nights at Elephant Valley Lodge. It was amazing! The location was just great. It was situated right beside a watering hole. The elephants came to drink every night when we sat in the boma having dinner. I had dinner and free entertainment! It was super to watch the elephants interact. Some were guarding the watering hole and not letting others drink and some were obviously good friends greeting each other with their trunks."

"One would have to look hard to find a more hospitable and quality accommodation which gives attention to details than this superb safari luxury bush type camp. They offered well-prepared food and informed staffs that guaranteed satisfaction. Ronnie, the owner, was hands on and all over the place keeping a keen eye on everything and had enough future plans to keep one wanting to return time and again. Their equipment was in safe, top condition with cozy warm ponchos for early morning motor safaris and boat rides on the river. This is a lifetime destination."
