Dreamfields Guesthouse

Your accommodation will be based at Dreamfields Guesthouse which is a 4 star luxury guesthouse located in the quieter region of the Hazyview suburb. The gardens are beautiful and bird rich, allowing you to unwind after your safaris with a drink by the pool on the terrace. The guesthouse is located nearby to various restaurants in the area, allowing you to experience the different cuisines the Lowveld has to offer.

Umkumbe Safari Lodge

Umkumbe Safari Lodge is located in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, considered by many to be the premier wildlife reserve in South Africa, un-fenced from the western boundary of Kruger National Park. Located on the banks of the seasonal Sand River, Umkumbe Safari Lodge is perfectly situated in one of the best big five game viewing destinations in Africa.

The focus at the lodge is on the view of the seasonal Sand River. Almost daily, guests are treated to sightings of various animals grazing on the riverbed. The lodge sleeps a maximum of 20 guests in 10 chalets / rooms. Most of the rooms have a small veranda with camping chairs and views of the Sand River, while others look onto a small plains area with a watering hole.

Umkumbe Safari Lodge has a variety of room set-ups that allow families to travel with ease, as well as a small party of three adults or friends looking for their own rooms connected via an inter-leading door. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, and suitable for guests looking for a well priced and affordable option in the Sabi Sand. All the rooms are en-suite, air-conditioned, and have full electricity.

Program

Day 1: Arrival - Kruger National Park

On arrival in Hazyview with the Ashtons shuttle which shuttle will depart from OR Tambo Airport, you will be collected by an Elephant Herd Tours and Safaris guide and transported to your accommodation. After a welcome drink in the beautiful and bird rich gardens, you will have about two hours to unpack and relax before your guide collect you for your first safari with your tour guide, who will spend the next three days with you in the Kruger National Park.

On this relaxed afternoon safari, you will get a sneak preview of what you can expect your other two safaris with a focus on the plains game such as zebra, giraffe and various antelope, although the park is always full of surprises and there may be one for you just around the corner.

Day 2: Kruger National Park

Your safari to the Kruger National park will start before sunrise in one of the open safari vehicles which gives you the opportunity to view animals from a higher vantage point and a perfect panoramic view. Your guide will use his professional expert knowledge to help you search for and find the iconic animals in the park as well as interpreting the natural environment. You will stop at various lookout points, waterholes and rivers during your safari to increase your chances of seeing as many of the fauna and flora that the park has to offer as well as breath taking scenery of the different areas of the park.

The guest house will provide you with individually packed breakfast packs which you will be able to enjoy at a rest camp or a picnic spot along the planned route for that day, there will also be a lunch stop should you wish to purchase a lunch snack or simply stretch your legs.

You will return to your guest late afternoon after your safari, just in time for a sundowner drink on the terrace or by the pool. Dinner transfers will be available to take you to a local restaurant. Late nights are not recommended as you will have to rise early again for the morning safari the next day.

Day 3: Kruger National Park - Sabi Sands/Karongwe Reserve

One last time, you will rise before the sun and set out for your final morning safari in the Kruger National Park before you set off to the Sabi Sands/Karongwe Reserve. There will be breakfast packs provided by your guest house for you to enjoy at one of the picnic spots or rest camps. After leaving the park at around 11:15 a.m., you will be transferred back to the guest house to pack up your luggage, have a quick snack before your driver-guide transfer you to the lodge in the private game reserve, where you will arrive in time for the sunset drive and sundowners. The drive will be followed by a boma dinner at the lodge.

Day 4: Private game reserve - departure

Expert rangers will ensure that your safari experience is truly memorable. Enjoy your final early morning game drive in the private game reserve. Check out after breakfast and return to Hazyview in time for your transfer back to O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) feeling absolutely fulfilled.

Hazyview is a small farming town in Mpumalanga, South Africa and is renowned for its banana industry. Close to Kruger National Park, the town’s name is derived from the shimmering haze that occurs during the heat of summer. Most of Mpumalanga’s private game reserves are found just east of Hazyview.

Individually packed breakfast packs are included to take along on the three safaris in the Kruger National Park. Bottled mineral waters will be available on all three safaris. Lunches and dinners are for your own account. Other alcoholic and non - alcoholic beverages are for your own account. Breakfast, dinner, coffee/tea and sundowner drink are included at the lodge in the private game reserve.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB). Included in this package is a shared return from and to this airport with Ashtons Shuttle. The shuttle departs Johannesburg daily at 6:45 a.m. and you will arrive in Hazyview at 12:00 p.m., just in time for you to unwind before the sunset safari.

Transfers from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, Skukuza International Airport and East Gate Airport in Hoedspruit are available upon request.

Private transfers are also available for up to 7 people in a luxury air-conditioned vehicle - this quoted at an additional rate depending on the amount of people.
