Jungle Wildlife Tour in Peru

Join Ecological Jungle Trips for the black caiman expedition in Peru. You will have day and night trips to watch the black and white alligators, as well as other wildlife. Accommodation

You will stay at Ecological Jungle Trips Lodge during this tour. It is a beautiful haven, distributed in rooms based on double and triple beds. Built and designed with materials of the forest, has a spacious dining room, and reception areas for hammocks. It’s a basic comfort. By night, lighting is based on lamps and lanterns.

But the area where the lodge is located, at the damping zone of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, is very interesting because the beautiful lakes with small and large rivers can be seen. The lodge provides the generator to supply a certain time to charge the batteries of electronic equipment such as cameras, phones, cameras, etc. On the last night, you will be camping outside the area of the lodge.

Program

Day 1: Iquitos - Nauta - Ecological Jungle Trips

At 08:00, Ecological Jungle Trips will pick you up from hotel or Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IQT)'s reception and transfer you to the town of Nauta, by road in a private auto.

Along the way to Nauta, you will observe the small villages of farmers settled on the sides of the road. The trip lasts for one hour and 45 minutes approximately. After arrival in the town of Nauta, you address to the vessels which leads you to the hostel, which is two hours and 30 minutes sailing in a typical boat upstream the Maranon, Amazon, and Ucayali rivers, ending in the Yarapa River where the hostel is located.

You will have allocation of private rooms and program information to follow. Go for a walking deep into the primary forest, knowing part of the flora and fauna of the area, approximately two hours. Then, you will return to the lodge and have lunch. You will visit an Amazon village to see their daily activities and keep browsing the Ucayali River to watch dolphins (grey and pink). Then, you will have dinner. A night time, indicated by the guide, you will perform the canoe trip in order to see different nocturnal species. The night will be at the lodge.

Day 2: Ecological Jungle Trips - Yarapa River

You will have an early morning hike through the jungle to observe different animal species in their natural habitat. Then, you will have breakfast and tour to the Yarapa River by a motorboat for bird watching and other species. You will then have lunch and walk orientation in the jungle to talk about medicinal, industrial plants and also learn about the art of survival using the elements of the Amazon jungle. Then, you will have dinner and a time indicated by the night hike guide for some kinds of insects, frogs, and other nocturnal species. The night will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Ecological Jungle Trips - Yarapa River

You will have an early observation of lupuna giant trees (Ceiba pentandra), Capirona, Capinuri (Heliocóstilis scabra), and striking birds, such as the toucan (Pteroglossus), the red macaw (Ara macaw), blue and yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), great egret (Egreta alba) and Amazon kingfisher (Amazon Chloroceryle). Then, you will have breakfast and recreational program to see piranhas and other species such as catfish, tucunare, bujurquis, acarahuasu, sardines in the lagoon near to the lodge.

You will then return to the lodge and have lunch at the lodge. You will enjoy the freshness of the Yarapa River, swimming and having the opportunity to observe the dolphin grey and pink. At the same time, many varieties of birds flying by. Then, you will perform canoe tours for different springs that leads into the primary forest to observe the largest Amazonian biodiversity. You will then return to the lodge, have dinner, talk about Amazon experiences, and rest to go camping the next day after breakfast.

Day 4: Ecological Jungle Trips - Yarapa River (night camping)

After breakfast, a time indicates output for camping. During the trip, you can see a variety of flora and fauna, and also the famous oso peresoso (sloth) in their own habitat. Camping is outside the area of the hostel. You will have two and a half hours of navigation motorboat for Yarapa River, introducing you more into the jungle. Then, you will have lunch and afternoon exploration to hear insects, trees, palm trees, the famous tree rubber, cedar, etc. When you spend the night, camping equipment will be provided. You will then have night trips to watch the black and white alligators, snakes, boas, frogs, insects, and night monkeys.

Day 5: Ecological Jungle Trips - Nauta - Iquitos

After breakfast, you will return to the lodge, browsing small lakes and rivers of the Amazon rainforest and observing some other species which have not seen during the program, such as Victoria Regia, orchids, and mono leoncillo (Pygmy marmoset). Lunch will be at the lodge. At the indicated time, you will return to the town of Nauta and continue the journey to the city of Iquitos by the private car. You will end your tour in Ecological Jungle Trips' office in Iquitos.

Notes: Passengers are required to arrive in the first flight of the day, otherwise you can take a night in Iquitos to start the tour early.

This tour will be located 240 kilometers from the Iquitos city along Yarapa River, at the damping zone of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, Peru.
