This landscapes of Malawi tour is a fantastic tour starting in Lilongwe and making its way through Nyika National Park where you can enjoy a number of fun safari activities. From there, it makes you make your way to your final stop at a beautiful location just off Lake Malawi at Central African Wilderness Safaris Chintheche Inn. You will dive deep into the beauty of Malawi wilderness and explore wonderful things through national parks and lakes.

Central African Wilderness Safari Chintheche Inn

Chintheche Inn is set on the northern shores of Lake Malawi, boasting a white sand beach and crystal clear water. The surrounding area is characterized by pristine, palm-fringed beaches and dotted with fishing villages and patches of lowland tropical forest.

Ten comfortable, brightly furnished rooms with en-suite bathrooms look out over the panoramic shoreline. The extensive grounds and gardens feature a campsite and pool and there is a choice of activities on offer for guests to enjoy, from swimming and snorkeling to boat trips and mountain biking. A central bar and restaurant are available for dining, although guests are invited to experience the pleasure of dining under the stars upon the weather permitting.

Central African Wilderness Safari Chelinda Lodge

Chelinda Lodge is set against a pocket of Hagenia woodland overlooking vast tracts of Nyika National Park’s rolling grasslands dotted with large herds of wildlife and consisting of six double-storey log cabins and one two roomed family unit. Each has a fireplace for the cold highland nights. The ground floor features an open-plan bedroom and lounge, en-suite bathroom, and a veranda.

A viewing area upstairs functions as additional living space is also ideal for children. The main building has a convivial dining area around a fireplace and a lounge that opens onto a deck for sundowners.

Luwawa Forest Lodge

The lodge, situated at 5000 feet or 1650 meters above sea level and Malaria free, is nestled in an ideally situated area of the Viphya Mountains, in one of the most tranquil and beautiful scenic locations in the North of Malawi.

East Cape Tours Safaris Malawi Program

You will go to Malawi to begin your adventure. This tour will start in Lilongwe and ends on Likoma Island, Malawi. During the trip, you will visit Lilongwe city, Nyika National Park, and Lake Malawi while enjoying game drives, evening or night game drives, walking safaris with an armed guide, nature hikes or walks, canoe or mokoro safaris, and mountain bike safaris in an open-sided, pop-up roof, or normal four-by-four vehicle. Additional accommodations before and at the end of the tour can be arranged by East Cape Tours for extra costs. Rates provided are for mid-range accommodations.

Daily schedule

Day 1 - Lilongwe

You will be collected from Lilongwe International Airport (LLW) and taken to your first stop in the tour which is Luwawa Forest Lodge. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your rooms where you will spend your first night. You can enjoy a variety of activities such as wilderness trails, wilderness walks, and rock climbing. The restaurant at Luwawa Forest Lodge offers deliciously cooked meals to be enjoyed. All meals are included.

Day 2 to day 4 - Nyika National Park

You will make your way from Luwawa Forest Lodge to the luxury Central African Wilderness Safari Chelinda Lodge in Nyika National Park. Upon arrival, you will be escorted to your twin bed chalet, where you will spend the next two nights.

Accommodation comprises eight warm log cabins made of pine with fireplace, en-suite bathroom, and an upstairs viewing area or room for accompanying children. Two chalets are joined to form an interconnected family unit. Elevated wooden walkways link the cabins to the inviting main building, complete with outside deck for sundowners.

The Livingstonia trail hike is a fantastic way for you to get out and enjoy the scenery. You will also be able to participate in activities such as a mountain biking trail, day or night game drives, birding, and even fishing on the reserve. You will enjoy your meals from the comfort and privacy of your own rooms with a three-course meal being served for dinner. All meals and drinks excluding premium wines and liquors are included.

Day 5 to day 7 - Lake Malawi

The final stop on the landscapes of Malawi tour is Central African Wilderness Safaris Chintheche Inn. Upon arrival, from Central African Wilderness Safaris Chelinda Lodge, you will be directed to the twin room. The inn is set in lush gardens with large, shady trees overlooking the lake and comprises ten comfortably furnished en-suite rooms and a two-bedroomed family cottage. All open out onto a patio and grass lawns sloping to the beach and are tastefully furnished.

You can truly enjoy the wonderful meals prepared by skilled chefs in Chintheche Inn's restaurant or enjoy the variety of drinks at the bar. Other on-site activities you can enjoy include bird watching, cycling, fishing, snorkeling, walks, and kayaking. Additional fees may apply if you would like to go speed boating. All meals and drinks excluding premium wines and liquors are included.

Day 8 - Lake Malawi

You will leave Central African Wilderness Safaris Chintheche Inn as your tour package comes to a close. Breakfast and drinks except spirits and liquor are included.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Lilongwe International Airport (LLW). Transfer from and to the airport is included. East Cape Tours will pick you up from the airport.

Cancellation Policy

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
