This 3-day gorilla tracking safari takes you to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which is home to more than half the population of the remaining 720 mountain gorillas. Bwindi offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experiences, a scenic allure of stunning hills, and lush vegetation inhabited by the elusive primates. You will have an experience of a lifetime watching at close range these majestic apes as they feed, play, and relax.
Duringt this 3 days' safari, you will be accommodated for 2 nights in Broadbill Forest Camp.
You will after breakfast set off for an 8-9 hours drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the southwestern part of the country. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. You will make another stopover for lunch en-route before continuing with your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest arriving in the evening. Your dinner and overnight will be at Broadbill Forest Camp.
You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 07:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the gorillas once sited and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
You'll drive through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa (900 meters deep) and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free. Your dinner and overnight will be at Broadbill Forest Camp.
Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast, then end your stay in the "land of the mountain gorillas" and depart with great memories of the moments spent with the fascinating mountain gorillas. You'll transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route then proceed to Entebbe International Airport (EBB) where you will catch your flight back home.
