If you have very limited time in Kenya for a safari, this is the most recommendable one to take. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is known for its abundance of wildlife and therefore increasing the chances of seeing much in a short stay. This safari is meant for travelers on a short stay in Kenya and also on a tight budget. The wildlife experience is super but the accommodation is in a budget tented camp.
Your accommodation will be at Lenchada Tourist Camp which is a budget tented camp. Also, this accommodation is environmentally friendly.
You will be picked from Nairobi at 8:00 a.m. by the tour van and drive through Westlands to the Rift Valley view point where you will have a stopover. From there, you will proceed to the world renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve. This game reserve is considered by many to be the jewel and highlight of any safari. This is mainly because of its abundance of game and the fact that it supports one of Africa's highest concentrations of predators.
After arriving at Mara, you will check into the camp for lunch. You will have time to familiarize yourself with the new environment before embarking on an evening game drive. Dinner, entertainment, and overnight will be at the Camp.
After a hefty buffet breakfast in the camp, you will embark on a game viewing drive in search for wild animals. You will drive to the famous Mara River in search of hippos and crocodiles. If your visit falls between July and September, you will witness the great migration of the wildebeest from Serengeti plains to Maasai Mara through Mara River.
This annual event was named as one of the seven new wonders of the world. You will also see the Kenya-Tanzania border that marks one side of the Mara Triangle. You will have your lunch in the park and proceed on a game drive in search of animals not seen so far. Dinner, entertainment, and overnight at the Camp. Today's meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
You will have an early morning game drive after your breakfast and then leave for Nairobi. This is the best time to have game drives since the animals both nocturnal and diurnal are active before the sun sends them off under the shades. After that, bid Maasai Mara Kwaheri goodbye and proceed to Nairobi to arrive in the afternoon.
Joseph Thuo is a very professional driver guide with over 15 years of experience in guiding. He is of great value in our company with very rare skills in spotting wild animals and vast information on different aspects of safari as reported by most of the guests he takes out for safari.
The safari will take place in Maasai Mara National Reserve, Maasai Mara, Kenya. Situated in the southwest of Kenya, covering an area of 1 510 square km (583 square miles), the Masai Mara National Reserve is a land of breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. The quintessential Masai Mara safari delivers many attractions, as the reserve is home to an excellent year-round concentration of game, including the more than two million wildebeest, zebras and other antelopes that make up the famous Great Migration.
The reserve is a photographer’s and naturalist’s paradise, with abundant elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion and cheetah alongside the migratory wildebeest and zebra. Leopards are frequently encountered, endangered black rhino hide in the dense thickets and large rafts of hippo and enormous crocodiles are found in the Mara River. The park is also home to over 450 bird species.
You will be provided with daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and one liter of bottled water whilst on safari. The food on safari is delicious and ranges from simple to gourmet. You can expect lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and wonderful homemade soups. Chicken, lamb, beef, or pork are usually served at lunch and dinner as well fish and vegetarian dishes.
Breakfast is buffet with lots of tropical fruits, hot and cold cereals, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, breads and pastries, and eggs to order. Lunch can be either buffet or served at the table and always starts with soup. Dinner is usually a four or five course sit-down affair, although there is no need to dress up. Often, your safari guide will join you at meals as you recall your daily adventures.
During your free time, you may go on a Masai Mara balloon safari for about 430 USD or participate in a cultural Maasai tour for about 25 USD per person.
