During this tour, you will be accommodated at Weltevrede Guest Farm, Hotel A La Mer, Igowati Lodge, Toshari Lodge or similar mid-range accommodations. Accommodations are clean, comfortable, and in well located lodges or hotels.
Discovery Transfer and Tours CC will pick you up from your hotel or guest house between 7 and 8 a.m. and depart at 8:45 a.m. straight on the way south to world-famous Sossusvlei via picturesque Spreetshoogte Pass. You will then have a stop-over at the viewpoint to appreciate the endless view of the Namib. Lunch at the Solitaire oasis. You will arrive at the lodge or campsite at around 3 to 4 p.m. This time is extremely hot, you recommend that you spend the day cooling off by the pool. Early rest is required as tomorrow you are expected to wake early in the morning.
Early in the morning, at sunrise, you will visit the Sesriem Gate to the remarkable Sossusvlei. You start off with climbing picturesque Dune 45, experiencing beauty and vastness of the Orange-colored landscape. Off-road drive to the Dead Vlei, a place of vast desert pan where dried-up, ancient acacias stand silent in the impressive, open-air gallery. If you have enough energy, you can climb one of the highest dunes on Earth, the Big Daddy, or Big Mama. After the morning excursion, you will return back to Sesriem for lunch. You will take a break for 1 to 2 hours. Once the heat subsides, you will take a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon. This will be your last activities for the day.
Namibia is a country of contrasts. Today you will move from desert to sea. On your way you will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse the Gaub and the Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry river bed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side and watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before us. Having arrived at the coast, you will make a stop in Walvis Bay to enjoy the view of flamingos and other birds in the lagoons. You will take a short break for lunch. You overnight in Swakopmund. Dinner tonight is at the client's own expense in a local restaurant.
A free day today offers you ample time to explore the town. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic is quite cold here sometimes) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund.
Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged. These include a boat-tour (with oysters and champagne) scenic flights and micro-light flights over the desert, quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sandboarding, skydiving and many other activities. All extra activities in Swakopmund are subject to availability. Dinner and lunch tonight are not included in the price of the safari and will be at the client’s own expense.
In the morning, you depart from the coastal town of Swakopmund and continue your safari along the skeleton Coast. Along the way, you will visit the shipwreck and proceed to Cape Cross Seal colony. After visiting the seals, you will turn east into the desert, towards Brandberg, Damaraland, one of the most magnificent and majestic places in Namibia. In this area you can find elephants, giraffes, ostriches and a variety of antelopes!
Today you will have an early breakfast. Do your activities in Twyfelfontein, which is a rocky site situated in the Kunene Region of north western Namibia. The site is one of the largest and most important concentrations of rock art in Africa, and was proclaimed a National Monument in 1952. Experience cultural and ethnic meeting with the Damara tribe at the Living Museum surrounded by fascinating nature, rock formations and magnificent landscape of Damaraland. After your morning activities, you will have a picnic lunch along the way and continue your journey further to Etosha National Park.
You will rise early and soon after breakfast start your full-day game drive in Etosha National Park. The early morning hours provide time for magnificent exploration as you visit the waterholes. You will get to visit the Etosha pan (salt pan) before game driving across the park in search of the “Big Five” and other animal species. A light lunch will be provided and allow you some time rest, gathering energy for your next adventure.
After lunch and some rest and relaxation you will visit the last waterholes that will be the last appreciation of Namibia’s beauty. Before sunset you will head back to the lodge for dinner where you can share stories of your experiences of the day and also share and compare beautiful photos. After a night of stories and photos.
Be prepared for the long, scenic transit back to Windhoek. You pass through towns and rural areas, stopping in the small town of Okahandja, the home of Namibia’s largest wood carving market. The stalls operate on a local co-operative basis and offer a vast array of truly Namibian souvenirs. You are back in Windhoek in the afternoon not later than 16:00 hour.
