Red Chilli Rest Camp

Red Chilli Rest Camp is superbly located to explore Murchison Falls National Park. It is at Paraa, on the southern bank of the Nile River, in the heart of the park.

The camp is just 500 meters from the Paraa ferry, where all vehicles cross the Nile for game drives around the Nile Delta and from where boats can be hired for game viewing on the Nile - either up to the base of the Falls or down to the Nile Delta, at Lake Albert.

Program

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

You will be picked up from your overnight accommodation and, thereafter, transferred to Murchison Falls National Park for dinner and overnight.

  • Drive time: Up to seven hours

Day 2: Game drive in Murchison Falls National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will depart the accommodation and arrive on the bank to catch the ferry. Here, you will cross the Nile to begin your game drive. Depending on what you see, you will return to catch the ferry to cross back to the accommodation and have a quick lunch.

After a quick lunch, you will drive to the bank where you will start your boat cruise to the bottom of the famous Murchison Falls. At the bottom, you will meet a ranger who will guide you to the top of the waterfalls. Here, you will meet with your driver who will then return with you to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Rhino trekking in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the famous Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek the rhinos. You will do a rhino trek and, thereafter, return to the accommodation for lunch. After lunch, you will be transferred back to Kampala, arriving in the early evening.

Location

Murchison Falls National Park is positioned in the north west of Uganda and stands as the largest national park in the country. The park supports four of the big five species, including lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes. The rhinos used to exist, but faced extinction in 1983.

They have been re-introduced and thrive in the neighboring Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, awaiting to be released into the wild. The park is bisected by the famous Nile River that flows 115 kilometers within the park's boundaries, powering into Lake Albert and the Albert Nile. The park derives its magical name from the Murchison Falls whose name was bestowed upon by Sir Samuel Baker.
