Explore South Luangwa National Park with Dens Safaris! This wonderful national park is in East Zambia’s Luangwa River Valley, and it is known for its abundant wildlife. It is one of the best parks in Zambia, if not Africa, and experts have even dubbed it to be one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, and not without reason. The concentration of animals around the Luangwa River, and its oxbow lagoons, is among the most intense in Africa.
You will spend three nights in chalets at Marula Lodge. The lodge has a number of rustic thatched chalets that provide comfortable accommodation to guests. The chalets can sleep two to five persons and are fully equipped and serviced daily. Marula Lodge also boasts a traditional boma and swimming pool to entertain guests and provide a true African safari experience.
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to South Luangwa. Lusaka to South Luangwa is a nine to 10-hour drive. You will stop for lunch in Chipata at Protea Hotel before continuing your drive. You will arrive in South Luangwa National Park, right on the river bank of the Luangwa River, with wildlife able to move through the camp.
The South Luangwa National Park is a frequently visited game park, and there is a better chance of seeing shy leopard there. You will spend three nights at Marula Lodge, staying on the banks of the Luangwa River, where visits by elephant and other wildlife are not uncommon. Depending on the time of arrival, you will do an evening game drive on this day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.
You will have two game drives on this day, one in the morning and the other in the evening. Remember that each game drive has its own experiences. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.

You will leave South Luangwa behind on this day and will be transferred to Lusaka by road. In Lusaka, you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight to your next destination or home. Breakfast and snacks en-route are provided. Arrive in Cape Maclear and tour ends.

If you are also interested in the other side of the coin, why not join the young locals on a tour through the little village of Mfuwe. Marula supports some of the local schools, where you will start the tour. There, you can see where the charity goes and get some insight into the rural education situation.
Moving on, there will be a pause for a climb and some fun under the famous Sendamira baobab tree. You will experience everything first-hand, from local cooking to beer brewing, conservation projects, and the delightful village markets. This is a 10 USD extra (for transport), and you may want to tip that keen young Zambian too!
The South Luangwa is famous for walking safaris. This is your chance to join the scout and guide on a stroll through the park where you can really connect with the bush. You will discover the secrets of the African earth, together with a wealth of information to truly appreciate all creatures great and small.
Leaving the lodge with your picnic tea at 2:00 p.m., the guide will find a safe spot and set out on a circular walk at a pace that allows you to absorb the sights and smells of this little slice of paradise. Back at the vehicle, there will be scrumptious sundowners before you return to camp for a relaxing evening. This is an optional extra and can be added to your package for just 20 USD per person.
