Jambo! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi or at your designated pick-up point in Nairobi City (Pick-up time at 7:00 AM), you will be met by Demic Tours Africa Customer Care Representative, who will brief you on your tour program before handing you over to your safari guide to Masai Mara National Game Reserve. You will drive via the Great Rift Valley region with a short stopover at the Great Rift Valley area to enjoy breathtaking views of the escarpments of the Rift Valley. (5-6 hours)
Take some scenic photos and then proceed with the drive to Masai Mara to check in at your reserved tented camp, have lunch, spend some time relaxing, and later go for an afternoon introductory game drive safari in the park until sunset.
Masai Mara National Game Reserve is one of the world’s top safari destinations, known for its abundance of big cats—cheetahs, leopards, and lions—as well as the two million wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles, and zebras that migrate annually across the vast grasslands in search of water.
The game drive with our experienced safari guide will keep your eyes and ears peeled for movement and memories. Watch elephants and giraffes grazing, photograph zebras and wildebeest, and with a little luck, you'll even spot animals feasting on a recent kill. After the game drive, return to your camp to relax, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight.
6:30 AM: Rise up very early in the morning to have breakfast and then go for an early morning full-day wildlife sighting game drive to fully explore the magical Masai Mara National Game Reserve.
During the game drive, you will encounter several wildlife species such as lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopards, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular wildlife destinations in Kenya and Africa. The reserve is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas with over 95 mammal species, several amphibians and reptiles, and over 400 bird species recorded on the reserve.
Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant games afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience. Alternatively, visit a Masai village and get learn about the Masai culture at an extra cost.
It is one of the reserves where the annual most spectacular wildlife event of wildebeest migration involving over 1.5 million animals takes place. This annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) and Masai Mara of Kenya takes place between July when they arrive in the Masai Mara national game reserve and November when they depart back to Serengeti national game reserve in search of water and pasture. Masai Mara National Game Reserve has several predators of the savanna such as lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures and on a lucky day during game drive, you may see them killing prey. After the game drive, return to the lodge to relax, have dinner, and overnight.
7:30 AM: After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot, and Lakes Elementaita and Naivasha on the way.
Keep an eye out for herds of giraffes and gazelles and head up the escarpment. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the late afternoon for a farewell lunch at an extra cost.
After lunch, you will be transferred back to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your departure flight for onward travel. Say goodbye to the wonderful country and promise to join us on another expedition!
