Join this fantastic safari with David Lloyd Wildlife Photography. Their tour leaders are professional photographers with great experience in the field as well as in guiding and photographic instruction. They pride themselves on the highest level of creative wildlife photography. Through this safari, they will show you creative techniques to set your pictures apart from the rest. All photographers are welcome.
You will stay for a night at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi before leaving for a flight to Maasai Mara National Reserve. At Maasai Mara, you will stay for 6 nights at the Entim Camp. Entim Camp was designed with a purpose to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Entim Camp is eco-friendly and small with only ten tastefully but differently furnished and well-equipped tents. The decor aims to enhance the surrounding environment. All ten guest tents overlook the Mara River and are well placed, en-suite with flush toilets and hot showers.
There is a cozy lounge area with a small library, separate bar, and open-fronted dining area allowing guests the experience of eating meals while watching the animals move to and from the river. The experience at Entim Camp is not your average hotel or lodge experience, it’s about being right in the hub of one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world and part of the Kenya safari experience.
Photographers of all levels are welcome. Each tour offers a small client-leader ratio that allows for personal attention and customized guidance on photography. Here, you will be taught creative techniques to set your pictures apart from the rest. Additionally, you will also learn the traditional techniques like portraiture, action, focusing, and composition.
After your morning drives, you will have optional interactive workshops on photographic technique and post-processing while reviewing your images. The goal is for you to make the most out of your experience and to take home pictures you’ve long desired. Your safari drivers are trained in the basics of composition and lighting, as they apply to wildlife photography, in order to best line up the vehicles for the most advantageous shots.
You will be picked up from an airport in Nairobi on arrival by a driver and delivered to the Serena Hotel in Nairobi, where you will all meet and introduce yourselves.
At 10:00, you will be transferred to Wilson Airport (WIL) about 15 minutes away for a 45-minute flight to a camp in the Maasai Mara. You will arrive in time for a camp welcome and introduction, and then after lunch, you will embark on your first afternoon drive. At about 06:30 you will return to the camp to relax in front of the boma (campfire) before dinner at about 19:30 - 20:00.
These days will be your full days in the Mara. You will be woken with a pre-dawn tea, coffee, and biscuits before you set out on a drive at 06:00 to photograph in the best light of the day. After a break for a picnic breakfast, you will continue until about midday, depending on animal activity. Then you will go back to the camp for lunch, rest, editing, backing up your images, or attending a talk or workshop session. Then at 16:00, you will head out for your afternoon drive as on the previous day.
You will have time for a 2-hour morning drive before returning to camp at 08:30 for breakfast. Then at 11:00, you will catch your return flight to Nairobi. For the remainder of that afternoon and evening, you can just relax at the Serena Hotel by the pool or at the bar before transferring to Nairobi airport for your international flights home.
