Danta Corovado Lodge

In Danta Corovado Lodge, you will be accommodated in a full-sized canopy bed and bath in your private enclosed garden bathroom. (Don’t miss out on the extraordinary woodwork on the toilet.) The dining room overlooks a charming creek and towering rainforest. This multi-leveled open-air Ranchito has tons of character starting with a twisted branch encased bridge, one-piece Balsa chairs, upside down tree column, puzzle piece Surá tables, and cozy candlelit dinners accompanied by a symphony of toads and the rustling of kinkajous in the treetops.

From the comfortable and spacious beach house to camping, they offer a full range of selections to fit any budget.

The Beach House

Drift off to sleep with the gentle lapping of waves of the Golfo Dulce only 50 feets away. Just steps from the beach and at the center of all activity, the two-story Beach House is constructed from beautiful exotic hardwoods and offers unobstructed 360 degrees views of the property and gulf. The Beach House will accommodate up to seven adults.

The second story offers open-air lounging with a private king bedroom and bath, another half bath and a huge open living area with additional sleeping area containing two queen beds and a convertible sofa.

The relaxing area with sofa, tables, and chairs overlooks the tranquil Golfo Dulce, flora, and fauna below.

There is a private outdoor passive solar hot water shower among the botanicals and under the blue sky or evening stars or you have the option of using the brand new passive hot water shower located upstairs.

Totally screened and with solar-powered electric lighting, this comfortable and spacious cabin enjoys a nice breeze from the Gulfo Dulce during the day and cool mountain air at night.

It is also equipped with private outdoor hot water shower. One shower is passive solar and the other is a gas on demand heater. Newly added is a passive hot water shower on the second floor of the beach house.

The Tree House

Eighty-eight steps lead to this private and intimate treetop cabin in the canopy overlooking the gulf. The spacious cabin is equipped with a card table, reading chairs, one queen bed, and one bunk bed. The beautiful hardwood floors and comfortable reading chairs make it a cozy place to relax after an active morning.

The Tree House offers visitors the opportunity to observe animal and bird activity while perched in native jungle canopy. Howler or whiteface monkeys, toucans, and parrots are just a few of the animals you may spot on the private balcony.

This cabin is perfect for those seeking tranquility and harmony with nature. It is fully screened. Lighting is from battery lanterns. It has a full bathroom with hot water shower.


Day 1

Representatives of Danta Corcovado Lodge will pick you up in Puerto Jiménez and provide transportation to the lodge. Lunch depending on arrival time. The first afternoon, you are free to explore the lodge, gardens, and trails. You can also opt for one of the available optional tours to the chocolate farm or indigenes Indian site. Then, you will enjoy a night hike . You will also enjoy lunch and dinner.

Day 2

Take breakfast early in the morning and get ready to start your guided hike into Corcovado National Park at the Los Patos Ranger Station. Enjoy incredible views, pristine forest and the rich flora and fauna of this region. Walk in the footprints of the jaguars, see where all four species of monkeys live, or cross paths with wild pigs. This walk lasts from 07:00 to 15:00. You will get box lunch on the hike and dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast, you leave Danta Corcovado Lodge and travel by car to Puerto Jiménez where you will be met by a La Leona Eco Lodge representative for the taxi ride to the lodge. This journey is approximately 1 1/2 hours and is an adventure for those wishing to get off the beaten path.

From Carate, enjoy a pleasant 2.5-kilometer walk to the lodge on the beach. The ocean views are stunning and not to be missed. The personnel will receive you with a welcome drink and will help get you settled in your tent. Later, enjoy your delicious lunch where you will meet your guide that will lead you into the amazing Corcovado National Park on the next day. If you prefer you can substitute the horseback riding on the beach instead the park hike. In the afternoon you are free to relax or walk La Leona’s private trails. You will also enjoy dinner.

Day 4

Take breakfast early in the morning and get ready to start your hike into Corcovado National Park. You will find on this side of the Osa Penninsula, the primary rainforest is very different than the eastern side. This walk can last from four to five hours. There is no rush and you will observe many varieties of birds, insects and animals. Start the hike early in the morning so you can be back at the lodge by lunch time (13:00 or 14:00). Use your afternoon to get relaxed. You will also enjoy dinner.

Day 5

After breakfast, you walk along the beach to Carate and then leave by taxi for Puerto Jimenez. The arrival time will be 09:00 - 10:00. In Puerto Jimenez, you will meet up with Saladero Eco Lodge’s boat. During the 30-35- minute boat ride, you often see dolphins and sea turtles. Upon arrival, you will get a cold tropical juice and settle you into your cabin. You can do a 1 ½ hour orientation tour of the gardens after you arrive or later in the day when it cools off. You will talk about medicinal plants, tropical eco systems, and symbiotic relationships between plants, rainforests, insects and birds. Learn how to open (and eat) a coconut, make coconut milk and coconut oil. After lunch, you have the afternoon to relax, kayak, snorkel, swim, or hike. You might enjoy an afternoon salsa and dinner.

Day 6

After a healthy breakfast and depending on the tide, you will tow the kayaks up the Rio Esquinas for a guided tour of the mangrove estuary and river. Home of the tallest red mangroves in the world, you will enter the small mangrove channels only kayaks can enter, listen to the sounds of pistol shrimp. You will have lunch. You have the afternoon to relax, kayak, snorkel, swim, or hike. You might enjoy an afternoon salsa and dinner.

Day 7

It’s free day. You can choose to go on one of the other optional tours, kayak, or swim. But if you are toured out and tired, just relax in a hammock with a cold drink and enjoy the sights and sounds of the rainforest. You will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 8

After a leisurely breakfast, you will return you to Puerto Jimenez. Boat transport is at 09:00 unless you have an earlier flight.

Danta Corcovado Lodge

Danta Corcovado Lodge Bungalows are suitable for those wishing for more privacy, as they offer bungalows set further in the forest, 200 meters from the main lodge. There is nothing like experiencing the tropical rainforest like waking up to squirrel monkeys passing overhead or going to bed with the sounds of pings and clicks of frogs, the chattering of kinkajou, or the long whistles of the Potoo bird on the prowl. It’s irresistible, wild, and exciting! Adapt to the sounds of the wild from the safety of your well-lit bungalow made of Melina and bamboo.

La Leona Eco Lodge

La Leona Eco Lodge sits right by Corcovado National Park, where the rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean. National Geographic once described it as “one of the most biologically intense places in the world”.


Bar and restaurant at Danta Corcovado Lodge

All meals are prepared by locals and are authentic Costa Rican dishes, they try to be innovative with what is in season so that you will enjoy a variety of tastes, with vegetarian options. You will also get free coffee and tea. Breakfast is at 7-9 a.m., lunch is at 12:30-2 p.m., and dinner starts at 7 p.m. Please let Danta Corcovado Lodge know if you have any allergies or special needs.

Meals at Saladero Eco Lodge

Sample Menu

Whenever available, fresh juices, herbs, root vegetables, and fruits are harvested from the gardens at Saladero. These include coconut, bananas, plantains, pineapples, papaya, guananaba, culantro, ginger, tumeric, yucca, araza, lemongrass, oranges, lemons and limes. Many of these foods have health-giving properties. Saladero Eco Lodge raises their own free range chickens and organic eggs. All fish is fresh and caught in the area nearby Saladero. Meals are prepared from scratch and served family style. The set menu varies from a mixture of local Costa Rican to a fusion of international favorites.


  • Costa Rican coffee (or black tea)
  • Gallo Pinto (Costa Rican specialty rice and beans with spices, onions, garlic and peppers) with eggs of your choice.
  • Eggs: Scrambled or fried.
  • Harvey’s special (world famous) banana and walnut pancakes with homemade unrefined syrup.
  • Omelets: Fillings may include zucinni, green/red pepper, onions or cheese.
  • Fruits: banana, pineapple, mango and papaya.

Note: all meals served with natural juices.


  • Quesadillas: A Saladero favorite, two flour tortillas, toasted with refried beans, rice and cheese, with or without chicken and served with sour cream, tomato salsa and guacamole.
  • Chalupas: Fried tortillas with refried beans, lettuce, tomato salsa, guacamole, cheddar cheese with a sour cream topping.
  • Traditional fish soup: Made with fresh caught Red Snapper, yucca, chahote, coconut milk, lemongrass, potatoes and corn. Delicioso!
  • Exotic green papaya salad: Served with shredded papaya, hearts of palm and homemade cilantro or papaya seed salad dressing.
  • Saladero garden leaf Salad: Moringa, Katuk, and Red Hibiscus leaves combined with shredded cabbage and sliced onion, topped with sliced almonds and served with the homemade pineapple vinegarette salad dressing.
  • Empanadas: Homemade corn tortillas wrapped around a meat mixture (or vegetables for non-meat eaters) served with a mild chilero sauce and the green salad.

Note: All meals served with natural juices.

Afternoon salsas

  • Fresh homemade mango, tomato or guacamole salsas served with tortilla chips or fried plantain chips. (Sometimes fresh ceviche when you catch fish).


  • Red snapper or Spanish mackerel: Sauteed in coconut oil then baked with lemongrass, ginger, and coconut milk. This can also be served spicy with a Thai curry sauce if you like. Includes white rice and salad.
  • Pork Chops: Smoked, grilled or fried with black beans, mango salsa, fried yucca and a salad.
  • Chicken: Roasted, grilled or fried with baked potatoes, corn and salad. Ask for the special Chimichurri sauce!
  • Pasta: Served with a choice of either ground pork or vegetarian tomato sauce. Served with parmesan cheese, fresh homemade bread, and salad.
  • Pizza: The wood fired pizza oven makes the very best pizzas in the Golfo Dulce (almost anywhere). Choose your own toppings and watch them being made.
  • Salads served with dinners
  • Green salad: Lettuce with tomatoes, onion, cucumber, mixed leaves from the gardens.
  • Garbanzo salad garbanzos: olive oil, vinegar, onion, cilantro, garlic, and tomato.
  • Green Papaya Salad: Shredded green papaya, shredded carrot, cilantro, crushed roasted peanuts, lime juice, garlic and Asian fish sauce served on a bed of lettuce
  • Avocados
  • Sustainable salad: Made with leaves from the gardens like red hibiscus, moringa (tree of life) and katuk, mixed with hearts of palm, onion and various other greens, seeds or nuts.
  • Homemade Cilantro
  • Homemade papaya seed with pineapple vinegret
  • Vinegar and Oil
  • Honey and Mustard

Kayaking in Golfo Dulce

Slip into the temperate waters of Golfo Dulce, exploring the mangroves, the beautiful beaches, and the marine life in a kayak. Embark from Playa Blanca, a Blue Flag certified beach that is seldom crowded, and enjoy a guided tour in this unique tropical fiord. With a high possibility of seeing dolphins at play, sea turtles, birds preying on schools of fish, crustaceans, and much more. After your tour, sit back and relax at Lapa Mar, where the friendly staff will serve you a delicious lunch under their cool “ranchito” and it is almost certain you will be serenaded by scarlet macaws and chestnut mandible toucans. So come on, grab a paddle, a life vest, and let’s go! The duration is two hours depending on the tide and the level is easy.

Private trails

They have 30 hectares of terrain outside of Corcovado National Park. Experience the same biodiversity at Danta Lodge that makes the Osa Peninsula such a popular stop among tourist. The property highlights sections of the heart of palm plantation, reforestation area, regeneration and secondary forests, as well as primary forests. Danta Corcovado Lodge is an excellent choice for bird lovers; over 200 species have been spotted in the property. There have also been sightings of jaguarundis, northern tamanduas (anteater), three-toed sloths, as well as regular appearances made by a squirrel, howler, and white-faced capuchin monkeys, and much more. The duration is two hours and the level are from easy to medium. You can walk on our private trails on your own for free.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Puerto Jimenez Airport (PJM).

Included transportations are from Puerto Jimenez to Saladero by boat, Saladero to Playa Blanca by boat, Playa Blanca to Danta and Danta to Puerto Jimenez by car.
