Join Danta Corcovado Lodge in wildlife tours in the tranquil and pristine forests of Costa Rica! At Saladero Eco Lodge you will stay in a Beach House or Tree House. At Danta Corcovado Lodge you will stay in a bungalow, largely screened tent set on wood platforms with full sized beds and full bathrooms and hot water showers.

Danta Corovado Lodge

At Danta Corovado Lodge, you will be accommodated in a full-sized canopy bed and bath in your private enclosed garden bathroom. Don’t miss out on the extraordinary woodwork on the toilet. The dining room overlooks a charming creek and towering rainforest. This multi-leveled open-air Ranchito has tons of character starting with a twisted branch encased bridge, one-piece Balsa chairs, upside down tree column, puzzle piece Surá tables, and cozy candlelit dinners accompanied by a symphony of toads and the rustling of kinkajous in the treetops.

Saladero Eco Lodge

All of the cabins and furniture have been lovingly built or restored by the owner and host, Harvey, who is a former life was a carpenter and building contractor in the US hand-sewn quilts and curtains by Susan add a touch of home to your stay. Look around and you will see mosaics, wood carvings, and handicrafts throughout the lodge.

The Beach House

Drift off to sleep with the gentle lapping of waves of the Golfo Dulce only 50 feet away. Just steps from the beach and at the center of all activity, the two-story Beach House is constructed from beautiful exotic hardwoods and offers unobstructed 360 degrees views of the property and gulf. The Beach House will accommodate up to seven adults.

The second story offers open-air lounging with a private king bedroom and bath, another half bath and a huge open living area with additional sleeping area containing two queen beds and a convertible sofa.

The relaxing area with sofa, tables, and chairs overlooks the tranquil Golfo Dulce, flora, and fauna below.

There is a private outdoor passive solar hot water shower among the botanicals and under the blue sky or evening stars or you have the option of using the brand new passive hot water shower located upstairs.

Totally screened and with solar-powered electric lighting, this comfortable and spacious cabin enjoys a nice breeze from the Gulfo Dulce during the day and cool mountain air at night.

It is also equipped with private outdoor hot water shower. One shower is passive solar and the other is a gas on demand heater. Newly added is a passive hot water shower on the second floor of the beach house.

The Tree House

Eighty-eight steps lead to this private and intimate treetop cabin in the canopy overlooking the gulf. The spacious cabin is equipped with a card table, reading chairs, one queen bed, and one bunk bed. The beautiful hardwood floors and comfortable reading chairs make it a cozy place to relax after an active morning.

The Tree House offers visitors the opportunity to observe animal and bird activity while perched in native jungle canopy. Howler or whiteface monkeys, toucans, and parrots are just a few of the animals you may spot on the private balcony.

This cabin is perfect for those seeking tranquility and harmony with nature. It is fully screened. Lighting is from battery lanterns. It has a full bathroom with hot water shower.


Day 1: Piedras Blancas National Park

Representatives of Saladero Eco Lodge will meet you in either Golfito or Puerto Jimenez and provide boat transportation to Saladero Eco Lodge. It is a 30 - 40-minute ride and you will often see dolphins and turtles. If early enough in the day, you will have lunch and then take a two-hour orientation tour of the property that includes the tropical plants and trees, medicinal plants, fruits, and even learn how to open (and eat) a coconut. Later, enjoy afternoon salsa and dinner.

Day 2: Piedras Blancas National Park

After a healthy breakfast and depending on the tide, the kayaks will be towed up to Rio Esquinas for a guided tour of the mangrove estuary and river. A marine sanctuary like the Golfo Dulce, it is home to many species of birds and animals and unique in that you enter small channels deep into the mangroves not accessible by boat. Lunch is included and you will have the whole afternoon to relax, kayak, or snorkel. Later, enjoy afternoon salsa and dinner.

Day 3: Piedras Blancas National Park

Today is a free day. You can opt for hiking the private trails, kayaking, snorkeling, optional tours, or relaxing. There will be three meals and afternoon salsa.

Day 4: Piedras Blancas National Park - Corcovado

After a leisure breakfast you will leave Saladero Eco Lodge and travel by boat to Playa Blanca. You will be met by a Danta Corcovado Lodge representative for the short 10-minute trip to the lodge. You will arrive at Danta Corcovado Lodge at approximately 11:00.

The first afternoon, you are free to explore to lodge, gardens, and trails. You can also opt for one of the available optional tours: chocolate tour, indigenous Indian tour, canopy (zip line). Lunch and dinner are included.

Day 5: Corcovado

Take breakfast early in the morning and get ready to start your morning birdwatching tour with an experienced guide. The tour is in primary and secondary rainforest on site.

Enjoy incredible views, pristine forest, and the rich flora and fauna of the region. After that, there’ll be lunch, evening night walk, and then dinner.

Day 6: Corcovado

Enjoy breakfast and then leave for Puerto Jimenez by car.


This wildlife tour will start in Piedras Blancas National Park and end in Osa Peninsula. Both are in Costa Rica.

Danta Corcovado Lodge

Danta Corcovado Lodge Bungalows are suitable for those wishing for more privacy, as they offer bungalows set further in the forest, 200 meters from the main lodge. There is nothing like experiencing the tropical rainforest like waking up to squirrel monkeys passing overhead or going to bed with the sounds of pings and clicks of frogs, the chattering of kinkajou, or the long whistles of the Potoo bird on the prowl. It’s irresistible, wild, and exciting! Adapt to the sounds of the wild from the safety of your well-lit bungalow made of Melina and bamboo.


Bar and restaurant at Danta Corcovado Lodge

You will be served 3 meals per day. All meals are prepared by locals and are authentic Costa Rican dishes, they try to be innovative with what is in season so that you will enjoy a variety of tastes, with vegetarian options. You will also get free coffee and tea. Breakfast is at 7 - 9 a.m., lunch is at 12.30 - 2 p.m., and dinner starts at 7 p.m. Please let Danta Corcovado Lodge know if you have any allergies or special needs.

Chocolate tour

This tour features one of the most important native trees, the Cacao. Join Danta Corcovado Lodge on a walk through a tropical orchard, banana groove, flatland rainforest, medicinal plant garden, and most importantly an experimental / traditional cacao plantation. This is a fascinating tour that will explain the historical and traditional importance of organic agriculture. The tour concludes with a table full of fresh fruits, homemade bread, and chocolate dipping sauce. It starts from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and the level is easy.

Kayaking in Golfo Dulce

Slip into the temperate waters of Golfo Dulce, exploring the mangroves, the beautiful beaches, and the marine life in a kayak. Embark from Playa Blanca, a Blue Flag certified beach that is seldom crowded, and enjoy a guided tour in this unique tropical fiord. With a high possibility of seeing dolphins at play, sea turtles, birds preying on schools of fish, crustaceans, and much more. After your tour, sit back and relax at Lapa Mar, where the friendly staff will serve you a delicious lunch under their cool “ranchito” and it is almost certain you will be serenaded by scarlet macaws and chestnut mandible toucans. So, come on, grab a paddle, a life vest, and let’s go! The duration is two hours depending on the tide and the level is easy.

Private trails

They have 30 hectares of terrain outside of Corcovado National Park. Experience the same biodiversity at Danta Lodge that makes the Osa Peninsula such a popular stop among tourist. The property highlights sections of the heart of palm plantation, reforestation area, regeneration and secondary forests, as well as primary forests. Danta Corcovado Lodge is an excellent choice for bird lovers; over 200 species have been spotted in the property. There have also been sightings of jaguarundis, northern tamanduas (anteater), three-toed sloths, as well as regular appearances made by a squirrel, howler, and white-faced capuchin monkeys, and much more. The duration is two hours and the level are from easy to medium. You can walk on the private trails on your own for free.
