This morning, you will drive south to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. On arrival, you will check in to Enkorok Mara Camp for lunch. Spend two nights here to explore, discover, and experience the magic and the 7th wonder of the world—Masai Mara Game Reserve. Enjoy a spectacular view of the immense "Big Five": lion, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, and elephant, as well as the wildebeest migration from Serengeti National Park in Tanzania into Masai Mara, Kenya.
The Maasai Mara is arguably Kenya’s most popular game reserve. It is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film Out of Africa was made to a great extent in this sanctuary. The reserve has a profusion of all types of wildlife, including the Big Five. A spectacle worth seeing is the annual migration of millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles from the Serengeti plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara River to reach Masai Mara grazing fields from late June. The game reserve abounds with birdlife, with close to 452 recorded species.
Located in the Masai Mara’s Siana Conservancy, Enkorok Mara Camp offers visitors tasteful and moderate accommodations in one of Kenya’s key safari national parks. The camp provides a chance to experience understated luxury in a charming setting overlooking the Olooloitikosh Hills. Watch as herds of elephants come to drink or wildebeest wander aimlessly in front of you.
Your day will be spent on safari in Africa's richest wildlife-viewing arena. Historically teeming with wildlife, the Mara hosts Kenya's largest lion prides and elephant herds. Other predators include leopards, cheetahs, and spotted hyenas, while the Mara River is home to pods of hippos and vast Nile crocodiles.
Other highlights include giraffes, gazelles, zebras, buffalo, and over 550 species of birds.
Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a hot air balloon at an extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild. If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game from a balloon is an unforgettable experience. Alternatively, visit a Masai village to learn about Masai culture at an extra cost.
You will have one more day of wildlife-viewing opportunities in the Masai Mara Reserve, also known as the "Jewel of Africa," a site with one of the largest and most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve is home to many of Africa's most popular wild animals, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards, black rhinos, and hippos. There are also over 500 resident species of birds, including ostriches, larks, sunbirds, and the lovely lilac-breasted roller.
Later, you will have the option to visit a Masai village at an extra cost and gain firsthand experience of the cultural ways of the Masai people, seeing their manyattas (homesteads) and learning about their way of life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, drive south to Lake Nakuru, the most famous of the Great Rift Valley lakes and home to a shifting population of over one million flamingos. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. The lodge overlooks Lake Nakuru and its surroundings, a paradise for bird watchers and wildlife lovers alike.
Spend the afternoon on safari in Kenya's first and largest rhino sanctuary, where sightings of both black and white rhinos are almost guaranteed. You also have a higher-than-average chance of spotting a leopard. Other wildlife includes lions, hippos, the rare Rothschild's giraffe, colobus monkeys, numerous plains game, and 450 species of birds.
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Amboseli National Park, another rewarding wildlife destination in Kenya. On arrival in Amboseli, you will be greeted by magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its snowcapped summit. You will check in at Oilepo Amboseli for lunch before enjoying an afternoon game-viewing drive in the park.
You will drive across this vast lake bed, often dry but swampy in some areas. Amboseli is home to cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, gazelles, and herds of elephants, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Nestled just 800 meters from the park, Oilepo Amboseli Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of natural beauty and contemporary luxury. This safari haven promises an unforgettable escape, inviting you to immerse yourself in the tranquility of the wilderness while enjoying modern comforts.
Rise early for breakfast before heading out for a full-day game drive, exploring nearly every corner of the park. During the drive, you will spot large herds of elephants, hippos, hartebeests, cheetahs, wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, and lesser kudus, among others. You will also enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its snowcapped summit.
Later, after your afternoon game drive, you will have an optional stopover at a Masai Boma (extra cost) or return to the lodge to relax by the swimming pool.
After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge, bid farewell to Amboseli National Park, and embark on a journey back to Nairobi. You will arrive in Kenya's bustling capital city in the early afternoon and have time for last-minute shopping.
Lunch is at your own arrangement. Later, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your departure flight. Bid farewell to Africa—until next time.
