Program

Day 1: Iquitos - Capinuri Lodge

Pick up from the airport or hotel. During the tour you, will be offered a brief orientation as you pass through the city of Iquitos, observing the main touristic places of this thriving and historic city of the Peruvian east that in the 19th century passed from a small town to the most important river port in the Amazon, acquiring a surprising cosmopolitan condition during the so-called "Rubber Rush".

Next, you will navigate the largest river in the world, the Amazon River, aboard comfortable and safe typical boats. The trip along the Amazon River will allow you to appreciate a wonderful panorama in which the magnificence of the river breaks through the exuberance of the jungle where the picturesque riverside villages also appear with their characteristic color and joy.

You finally arrive at the Capinuri Lodge. The staff will welcome you with a pleasant welcome drink made with local fruit. A short explanation on the rules that govern the sustainability of the shelter and its surroundings will allow you to better understand the ways of how to make your stay and participation in ecotourism activities more rewarding.

Start your safari, with an excursion on foot or by canoe, as the station permits, to "Nuevo Perú", where a community of the Yagua ethnic group is established, whose ancestors were discovered by Francisco de Orellana in his first exploration of the Amazon in 1541. This visit will allow to know their ancestral customs, to appreciate their original clothing of palm fibers and even to prove their aim with the "pacuna" (blowpipe) that the Yaguas used for centuries for hunting. After the visit, return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will head towards the wildlife reserve center, "Fundo Neyser" to observe and interact with some of the varieties of wild animals such as the lazy bear, monkeys, macaws, toucans, and boas. It will be an interesting way to learn to value and respect the typical wildlife of our Amazon. After the visit to this center you will go to observe the beautiful sunset over the Amazon (depending on weather conditions).

Last activity for today is a night excursion in the Amazon. Your guide will indicate the moment you start the canoe or on foot tour that will take you to discover, the mysterious world of nocturnal insects, cicadas, spiders, praying mantis, etc. To end the night, nothing more pleasant after enjoying an appetizing meal, than the stories and legends of the rich Amazonian mythology. Likewise, if you wish, the staff will share with you moments of music and singing for a relaxing after-dinner that will lead you to the best of dreams.

Day 2: Capinuri Lodge

The early hours of the morning (05:00 a.m. - 06:00 a.m.) is the appropriate time to observe many of the bird species that feed on the banks of the river or the plantations that are in the vicinity of the community. Your guide will indicate the exact time in which you will perform this activity.

Next, enjoy your breakfast before heading for your flora and fauna circuit (flooding ecosystem "Kingdom of the Giant Trees"). By boat or canoe, you will follow the course of the Yanayacu River to explore this area rich in avian fauna, whose species include kingfishers, hawks, herons and a prehistoric bird named Hoatzín or "Shansho" (Opisthocomus hoatzin).

It is also possible to find bromeliads (epiphytic plants) that grow on the top of trees. But it is undoubtedly the giant flora that causes the greatest admiration, among the trees - the "lupuna" (Ceiba pentandra) that exceeds 50 meters in height and among the aquatic plants the "Victoria Regia", whose floating leaf can exceed the meter and a half in diameter.

Around noon, you will be returning to the lodge to enjoy a delicious lunch that you will enjoy in Capinuri Amazonia Tours panoramic dining room. Dinner in the evening.

Day 3: Capinuri Lodge - Iquitos

Start your day with birdwatching in the river at dawn. This is a propitious time to identify birds of different species that come from town (Yanayacu Timicuru) near the shelter where you can interact with the village during the view of lianas bed (tarzan rope) where you can balance in this same return to the shelter. lunch. At the appropriate time, you will take the boat to go back to Iquitos, transfer to the airport, or chosen hotel.
