National Geographic has called it "the most intense place in the world, biologically speaking" and it is estimated that no place in the world (that possesses a similar extension) harbors a greater biological diversity. Ranger Station Sirena is the administrative center of Corcovado National Park and the largest and most capable station. Sirena is the best destination to maximize the observation of wildlife.

Tour 2: Isla del Caño

Cano is a small island about 20 kilometers from Drake Bay, declared as a Biological Reserve. It is a popular tourist destination, which attracts visitors for its beaches, coral reefs, and marine life. The marine life includes manta rays, dolphins, sea turtles, whales, and a great variety of fish. White tip fin sharks dominate the territory, but you can see other animals such as turtles, eels, dolphins, rays, and other sharks.

The volcanic rock formations provide the bases for the coral colonies, which in turn give a home to small mollusks, crustaceans, and an endless number of incredible fish, but due to its biological reserve status, diving in this area is regulated, in five sites open to the public, including "El Bajo del Diablo".

Wildlife on the island is scarce, consisting primarily of insects such as bees and butterflies, you can also find amphibians and reptiles on the island, as well as colonies of migratory and resident birds.
